If I were a suspious man I would be looking for a Tardis like object in your area that is enabling you to travel back in time to the 80's! You and a few people here really do put the "R" into Replicas don't you.

Many thanks to the four involved in the plans, Q, Allan, Lee and Jason

I thought there was a fifth guy for the V2. :$

The armatures are wonderful guys, shiny as hell, I'm glad to see that new chickens will be done ! I was always wondering where were going all the armture from the previous runs ? There were something like 20 or so produced but how many were actually built besides Lee's, the 2 or three Allan's, Jason's and the one he was commissioned for, Eric, Q and I ?

Cant wait to see more pics of the chicken on its legs ! :)

Yeah George, any pics ? Would love to see more chickens !!

Guy, I'll try to take mine next time I go to the UK, would to get a pics with yours, Lee's and mine ! :)

Thats probably the neatest armature done to date. The V1 which i own, meh, its OK, the V2 was a bit of a pain in the ankle region im told, and needed a bit of clean up, this baby here, WOW, looks way polished.

Julien that would be cool, a little hoth scene with three walkers....im in lol, do love this prop, looks fantastic on display.

great point Lee,..
would love to see the ankle on these new armatures -- hoping to see someone improved on my attempt.

Yeah the edges of the V2 had a grainy finished (due to the lasercutting ?), took hours to get them smooth :behave
These armatures make me want to build another one lol

Yeah 3 walkers, would be cool ! 3 identical but also different walkers ! I'm not sure how I could do it cross the Channel safely lol

Eeeeh by 'eck its exciting. Already got a "safe" mess free idea for a snow scene for the next show/meet, be good to have a dedicated Hoth area maybe?

lee

Well... maybe it´s time for me to step up.
I made these armature´s.

Thank u all for your kind word´s!

Here is the story.
First i whanted to build just 1 for me so i asked Joe,
were he got the drawings from.
Sins it "doesnt ad to mutch work" to do a few more part´s, i asked Joe and Guy if they would be interrested in one. At that time i diden´t know that there was so mutch interrest in these. Sorry
And here we are.

I´m sorry for all the others but it would have bin to mutch work to do more at a time.
Some of these parts required more then 16 steps to produce.

here is a part overview.

sorry for the crappy pic

You did an awesome job ! The parts looks awesome, I'll commission you to make the AT-AT parts I cant make myself if you're OK ! :) :thumbsup

So ... how is this 3rd version better than the first? I have the first version and see nothing wrong with it. As far as polished, they do get painted right? I see this as a waste of a step. Also you want it rough to accept glue and paint.
George

Rough, no, keyed, yes, there is a difference. V1 used alloy for the hip joints, too soft, no way durable enough as brass. This V3 is based on the most recent findings in dims, so more accurate.
I have a V1, i love it dearly, but its plain to see this armature is a lot more refined.

It's not only a matter of being polished or not George, there were several proportion issues on the V1 which were corrected on the V2 for most of them, the V3 is probably even more accurate ! And not talking about some design issues.

Just look at the lower part of the leg (the shorter one), you'll see there are some kind of steps, it was straight on the V1, this feature appeared on the V2. The slot for the screws : rounded (shape of the mill bit) on the V1, perfectly square on the V2 and V3.
The upper leg part doesnt have exactly the same shape, the chassis is also different and even better on the V3 I think. It doesnt mean you cant get a nice replica with the V1 (look at Lee's and Allan's) but the V2 and V3 are better in term of accuracy.
