Episode 1 Battle Tank

Hi guys.

Heres a Battle tank im doing, its about three times larger than the Ertl kit. For the Turret section i used Urethane foam. and for the lower section i used blue foam, but will probably re do it with urethane. Its still under construction. So have a look. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Thanks

Al

This is really good Al!!! I take it this is the studio scale version-right? Where are you going to keep these? Are any of the models you're making going to be offered as kits?

Im building this tank for a client. but i would be willing to make a few others if the money was right. The only model i was thinking about kitting would be The X jet from X men. But then again for the right amount, and if theres enough interest. i might be talked into making something as a kit.

Haha! There you are! Great to see you posting again my friend!! I can't wait to see an upate! Looking fantastic thus far.

Nice work how do you get such a smooth finish with the foam ?

Thanks. well once you get the foam close to where your happy. you can either coat in fiberglass resin, or just bondo it. then sand the bondo smooth and primer. I like to use a good body shop primer like Dupont for smoothing and leveling. then i block it out, making sure theres no waves or funky spots. then i go over it with duplicolor or similar rattle can primer for a smooth finish.

Almost done turning the barrel. taking a while. im using PVC and when it gets down to a small radius, and is a little long, it wants to ride up the cutter. so im taking it slow. should have it done in a day or two.
