Those are some beefy tangs! Definitely not UC rat tails. Indy, could you explain a little bit about the construction of the swords? Looking at those pictures it looks like they will be full tang. How are the hillts and pummels going to be fitted together? And what are the cross guards and pummels made of? I'm just curious to know the insides of the sword when I get one.

I talked to the factory again and they are indeed an alloy with brass plating and antique finish. The brass casting turned out to be too problematic and was much harder to get consistent results.

The good news is it looks like we will be doing all the scabbards in wood, not plastic. The plastic casting, like the brass, was just too difficult to get to work properly, so we went back to the wood. It'll take a bit more time than the plastic, but at least we'll finally get these done!

Thanks for the updates

We're not going to sell the sword and scabbard separately for the moment. This may be something we do in the future with a future run, but we really need to concentrate on getting all the pending orders out first.

I am glad to hear the scabbards will be wood. The plastic Orcrist scabbard UC put out hurt my soul.

Hi Indy,

i know its off topic but i love the fact that the Guthwine will be full tang and will have a peened pommel! I am currently working on getting a MC Glamdring and was wondering if you see the possibility after your Guthwine run has settled, to give a big RPF shoutout with the question if the community is willing to pay a good price for a Magnoli Glamdring? I would be willing to pay a very well for that particular piece as i am a huge Glamdring fan and find it a real real big pitty that there are no proper Glamdrings on the market expect the Museum Collection and Peter Lyon one :)

I am looking forward for my Magnoli Guthwine :)

A big thanks for your time :)
Mathias

I'm not sure if the demand would be there, since I think most collectors just got the UC version.

Having hovered over this thread since the start and seeing the current version, I’m adding this to my Jack Sparrow sword and UC wall-hangers.

I don’t even have any Rohan-based memorabilia (it’s ALL Gondor) but this is too beautiful to pass up on if there’s another slot. Pre-ordered from your website.

Not to derail the topic, but Nibenon reminds me -if Magnoli did a run of Faramir's sword I would be duty-bound to buy it

I’ll both add to the derailment and attempt to put it back on track by saying I commissioned Faramir’s sword from the smiths of Dragon’s Breath Forge back in January. It’s been a investment of 4K so far, but the progress they’ve shared is beating every other replica attempt hollow (beyond the fact all the pieces are hand-forged, not cast, the inlay is real gold, and it’s a genuine functional sword, not a wall hangar).

When it’s finally done and I’m holding it, I’ll show it off with the rest of my Faramir build. I doubt anyone else but Weta themselves would beat it!
