Enterprise Refit -signup.tomy.com

Their marketing for this has been MUCH better this time around. Not a day goes by without the TomyPlus advert for the refit popping up on my instagram feeds

I don't think more aggressive marketing would have helped much in this case. The exposure they got from that massive YouTube channel (7m subscribers), specifically targeted at high end nerd collectibles, was pretty much the pinnacle of exposure that I can think of, aside from buying commercials during actual Star trek shows (for those airings/streamings that have commercials), and it didn't do much to move the needle. I think the numbers are pretty maxed out. Also the TOS Enterprise suffered from being first in class-- now that it broke the ice and the Tomy ST line is now a well-known, proven property in the collector community, it made a world of difference in sales figs for this round, apart from the fact that the refit may have a significantly wider fanbase.

(that said, professionally produced tv/streaming commercials probably would've bumped the numbers nicely, tho the cost I imagine would be beyond exorbitant)

This just in from Tomy: crowd funding extended another 12 hours.

"Due to high demand, we've decided to extend the campaign an extra 12 hours. The new end date and time is Monday, September 16, at 11:59 AM US-Central. This will allow us to assist with any last minute requests or cancellations promptly on Monday morning when our team returns to the office."

Really happy for you guys and the smash success that this is seeing. The dedication to details and perfection is really obvious, as tweaks are still being made. This honestly is a once in 45 year opportunity to buy something like this, especially in die cast. The metal, paint, details and lighting made me think “there’s no way in hell I’m gonna pass this up” lol

The new video just dropped from Trekyards.

One thing of interest to me is that he mentions the possibility of making the D. Obviously this is just spitballing off the top of his head, but he says that since 1:350 for that one would be unrealistic they'd probably do it at about 30 inches....wide. He mistakenly notes his belief that it's wider than it is long, although this is not true (a 30" wide saucer would make the ship around 40" long I think).

But that still gives us a general idea of the sort of size they'd have in mind if they worked on the D, generally around the same maximum measurement as the current ships. (Probably length rather than width I'd guess, since he currently thinks width is the longest measurement when in reality it's length. Even at identical lengths, the D would still be much larger than the refit overall)

He also mentions that their goal for this product line is to stay in the 300-800 dollar range and that he doesn't ever want to exceed 900 dollars for anything they offer. That's comforting.
