this model was built by Industrial Light and Magic and sold as Lot 998 in the Christies 40th Anniversary Star Trek auction for $132,000.

I hate when rich people spending insane amounts on silly stuff, and help no one.

Having said that, I am a hypocrite, and if I had the money I would have spent whatever it took to get the Excelsior (Lakota), Enterprise A (Refit ST 1-6), the Enterprise E, Kirk's ST6 captains chair, ST3 Enterprise burning, and a few other things.

Hopefully I would have had enough to donate the same amount of money I spent at the Christies auction in addition to all the other donations I make.

NX-2000 did not have glowing warp nacelles, if that’s the era of excelsior that they’re trying to replicate. The Voyager Flashback episode NCC-2000 Greg Jein built model had them.

Yeah, that was noted at the time as the Voyager episode takes place during ST6. I don't know if the question of why they did that was ever asked.

That Excelsior was also sold at a later auction I believe.

That is AWESOME....have you done a TOS Klingon cruiser yet?

You know I would love to see a big scale Jupiter 2 with at least the upper deck or a modified 2 deck in a smaller scale compared in relation to the exterior.

If you ever talk to the Tomy guys between now and the next release. I would not be mad if you suggested to them about doing an TOS and Movie D7. You can accidentally send them your photos as well....

If they are gonna do a cruiser, they should do the one from ST6. Not only does it look awesome, but I love, "We've never been this close!" The scenes with that cruiser, which I believe was a re-paint of TMP cruiser, were incredible. One of the last great model movies.

What a great scene. The shadows and lighting really helped to make the detail pop; absolutely menacing. The scene where the torpedo tube lights up as Chang mentions “I will blow you out of the stars” was super intimidating

Haven’t seen this clip. It seems pretty recent. Late in the clip it shows the iridescence on the dorsal neck and it looks really pretty and colorful !
