TOMY Hangar Deck comparison to TMP view. It will probably get better as the production model continues development. And as xlowes mentioned, it will probably look great once lit.

Keep in mind the model shown so far is a prototype, and there is a laundry list of things - being worked on right now - that will be different in the final production model.

Screengrab below is the deepest view we ever see into the hangar bay. I'm told there's a forced-perspective model inside the tail of the 100-inch Refit miniature in this scene.

Visible in the high-angle shot of the Cargo Area are sliding panel doors that seal off the Cargo Area from the Airlock/Elevator section. Another set of these doors could be posited to exist between the Landing Bay and the Airlock section.

It would be great if the TOMY model could have the complete hangar deck/cargo area with lit turbo lift tubes. I know that’s asking a lot for the cost of this model. Whatever we get, I’m sure it will look great.

Yeah I doubt it. It looks more like the hanger bay scene from The final frontier where the cargo bay is closed off. The scene from TMP includes the entire cargo bay open to the shuttle bay which is huge. They would not be able to do that since it's positioned lower than the shuttle bay.

Will this replica require a support structure like the TOS model did?

The base design might change a little to accommodate the heavy ship. The use of a saucer support might be necessary, as it was for the TOS model.

Hopefully this is something that is finalized before the campaign ends as this was a huge point of contention last time.

Lots of “that’s a deal breaker” on the TOMY FB group. There are NO deal breakers for me.

Ship at an angle
Gold bridge
No cargo area
No running lights in hangar deck
Blue strongback vs. green
No Self illumination
Secondary hull support (EDIT: Primary hull support)
Slightly inaccurate Aztec
No USB cable
Shipping cost not included

I'll speak only as a consultant, Tomy will have to give final answers as they make all the decisions.

Most of these issues on Jim's list are under development but just didn't make it into the Prototype shown so far.

Paint details are easy to change and more accurate TMP colors have already been specified.

The landing deck in TMP is not seen to have animated light patterns. This is a feature of the landing bay seen in Star Trek V.

Whether the cargo handling area deeper into the ship is represented or not depends on how the costs are trending. Tomy is aware of the desirability of having the complete hangar/cargo deck visible.

There is plenty of self-illumination on the model, plus the base fires spotlights up at the model to help give it the iconic look. Only the spotlights that are physically impossible are not represented (the Tomy does not use the Raytheon internal-illumination technique).

"Secondary hull support", I don't know what this refers to. If you mean the tilt down issue I am told that will be fixed.

Things like the final accuracy of the aztec pattern will depend on the cost of paint applications and what the product can afford.

While "no USB cable" might at first seem like a disappointment, most people have spare USB-C cables they aren't using. Also the USB power connection means you can power the model from a wall outlet or from a USB power bank, making the display possibilities nearly endless.

Piss on "Deal Breakers." You don't want it, totally cool, but we do. Go pay 7k to a professional model builder if you want it "your way."

Said with love.:whistle::love::p

Too many armchair builders who in most cases can't even build . You know what's said about opinions ! ;) ;)

Thanks for the additional information Karl.

As for the secondary hull support (I should have said PRIMARY hull support). TOMY+ posted that a saucer support similar to TOS model “MAY” be needed. They won’t know until more is known about the weight and balance of the die-cast model.

If they could add a little remote Kirk, Scotty and Spock walking around that would be sweet. Please include the dialogue, "She can't take it Captain!"      :p :p :p :p :p

Not on the refit this size.

Yeah, there are absolutely no deal-breakers for me on this one either - I'll be buying it (probably two) no matter what. Always, always wanted one of these, I used to rewatch the TMP Enterprise flyby over and over again because of how regal that ship looked, it is the physical embodiment of perfection to me (along with the original Thunderbird 2). It cost me more than the price of the actual model to get it shipped here to the UK and I still have no regrets.

Even if it comes with all of the flaws of the Tomy TOS ship - and let's face it, there are a few glaring ones - I'll still be buying it without hesitation.

All I ask for this time is that they're more open and honest about any issues like screw plugs etc. It was a shitshow last time where they stated multiple times that they would be seamless, and it was only as leaks of the finished production model appeared at the 11th hour that we realised this was not true. I'm okay with plugs (for the love of God, put them on the right-hand-side of the ship, NOT the left) if that's the price we have to pay, but please be up front about it.

It sounds as though they're aware of this ship's popularity and are going to refuse to lower the crowdfunding targets this time, so I pray that they aren't going for stupid figures like 20,000 copies, that will be devastating.

Even if everything on that list was part of the deal, you'd still have individuals that would come up with a bogus reason not to get it.

"Oh, it's not actual size? Deal breaker."
"What, it doesn't fly? Deal breaker."
"Are you telling me there's no tiny living crew in there? Deal breaker."
