Enterprise Refit -signup.tomy.com

The big cone of light in front of the model makes me think someone's gone in there with a little color-dodge work. That sharp cutoff of the light in front of the registry seems a little screwy...I don't think that's how projected light would fall off. Maybe with a raytheon effect, but I'm told that you can't get that with die-cast metal. Pff, I could be wrong. It certainly would be awesome if they could get the lighting to work.
...and don't get me wrong, I think the model is looking great! I'm just so happy to have such a huge, painted and lit model of my favourite spaceship.

Great point. A few pages back there’s actually a pic of the unpainted die cast prototype with an additional cutout for light coming from the bridge. Gary Kerr confirmed that they were experimenting with the top registry lighting but failed, and they were going to use the existing cutout to achieve the effect

Unfortunately the second hand market prices will probably be like the prices people are asking and selling for with the Wand Tricorder .

Might depend on how long I wait. When the original series Enterprise first came out they were selling on ebay for anywhere between $800 and 1200. A Markup from the TOMY price of $600 -- and of course so many cancelled orders that they could even be had directly from TOMY at that price. Now they are $3k + . The TOS release was a bit different because fewer were made, and many were buying two or three with intention to sell on the secondary market. With this one more units will be made but fewer people bought seconds, but I am betting there are peole who are going to get it and still think its not good enough - and just sell it.. the real question is how many people will that be.. and will I be paying any better attention then than when I missed the original Crowdfund ( My TOMY emails were going to the spam folder. ...) Oh well, if I can't afford one for snoozing its no one's fault but my own.

I hope you can get one for a decent price. There undoubtedly will be plenty on the secondary market. Try looking at the TOMY Enterprise Owners Facebook Group. People are mostly willing to negotiate a decent price and there is no tax of course. People have been selling their extra TOS's here with not overly inflated prices. When the time comes the page is worth checking out.

I know people don't like to use FB but this might be worth it.

Why January? I thought these were shipping in Oct? January way to long!
I'm in the UK, it's getting released later than the US here.

There will be loads and loads of them for sale. A lot of scalpers overlooked the TOS Enterprise but almost 600 backers bought two or more copies this time in the US alone (can't see the UK data anymore for some reason), and you can bet that the bulk of those will end up on ebay. Market saturation should then keep the prices reasonable.
