Elstree Vader - What do we have?

Hi

Since I got my hands on an rotj vader elstree copy (or as it's described on starwarshelmets.com 'rotj screenused copy'), formerly owned by fatherless one, I wanted to know the backstory of this helmet.

I know the first thing before starting a thread is using the search function, but I found nothing satisfying.:confused

I've started a thread on the DEN and it seems to be dead now, so I thought I'll give it a try here.

Almost every vader lid is traced down or there is a brief backstory about it (origin, derivate, maker etc.).

So:

Perhaps someone can chime in and share some information about it.

(Sry for the crappy pics ).

Sadly no one chimed in...hoped someone would shed a bit of light on this. I think this thread was dead from the beginning, so if no one is interested, would a mod plz delete this thread.

regards

Gino's opinion about it was if I recall it correctly that this lid is an 'oversharpened, unauthentic piece of mess'.

Well, I miss the backstory there...:rolleyes

(I remember he meant the original rotj elstree...I'm not sure what he thinks of this lid, although I've heard that this derived from an elstree).

There is NO info on the maker, there is NO info about the origin.

It is said that the facemask is a derivate from a screen used Jedi mask, surely not a piece of mess:rolleyes
The dome from the first run was warped which was fixed at the smaller second run.

Well, what I know, then it was Jez who named it Elstree and this one, iirc, is an authentic Elstree helmet (not a copy of one) and is the one shown on StarWarsHelmets.com

It is sharpened, so not untouched accurate. It is a good idealized helmet.

Also... many of these helmets' back stories are shrouded in mystery. Not just this one.

I'm surpirsed he hasn't too! After all,he IS the be all,end all,of all things starwars!!!:lol:lol:lol:lol But,after yesterdays' fiasco - I doubt he will, and understandibly so!
It's these kinds of posts that cause people to wonder about you, Newbie.

As to the Elstree, hasn't Brian Muir said something to the affect that it is not a derivative of a screen used piece? As far as the history goes, you will have to keep tracking down the previous owners.

Which 'fiasco" are you talking about? (Don't want to change the direction of this thread though).

Anyway, I'm not interested in Gino's opinion about it. Not that I'm offended by his statement, that this lid is an unauthentic mess...but such statements are useless, infact this thread is not about likes or dislikes regarding this lid, it's about the history and origin of it.

@ Gonzalez: As for tracking down it's owners:

As I understand, this helmet is formerly owned by fatherless one, then he sold it to JRX, then it came into my hands.

What always made me curious was the wideness of the dome on the sides.

The wideness on the dome came from a mold problem from the first run. Thats why they made a second one.

Seriously. Do you think that racking up posts as fast as you can type gets you clout around here? Most of what I've read from you thus far is nonsense. Sometimes less is more, bro.

Sorry to butt in with that.

Can't be that there are no pics whatsoever of one of these 5 helmets :cry

Not that the dome is too wide on the sides, it has an ugly 'dent' or ding on its left side. Other thing is, that the neck is too short, the lower mouth opening a little bit too small for rotj and the bottom lip seem to be modified to look fat...althouh this looks kinda off.

I understand. I'm not claiming to have clout around here, but everyone else thinks they do! Being a member of a forum for a long time seems to give others a feeling of superiority. At least, that's the way I've seen it! I'm not disagreeing with you,but everyone else seems to think that a member that's been on here for a while is the be all,end all of information, just because they know a little more about a certain subject that everyone else! In Ginos' case I was only ribbing! The fiasco that I was referring to was trooper master being banned, and all the shinanighans that surrounded it! TM got himself banned because of his own actions! Please don't take this personally,as I'm not attacking anyone in particular with this post! It's impossible to prove anything over the internet,as you don't always know who is on the other end of its' connection providing such information. Especially without knowing the source of it! There are those that will believe whatever a trusted source tells them, even if it's wrong! I.E. newspaper, magazine retractions, and lawsuits for false information - even on the internet! One such incident is even in a thread here on the RPF. Unfortunately, people will believe whatever they wish, even if it's WRONG! I've seen a lot of mudslinging here on the RPF,and I know I've kicked a lot of sand, and have had it kicked back at me. There's a lot of non-sense on T.V.,and I watch a LOT of it! This unfortuantely works it's way into the public concience, and people believe it,just because it's on T.V.! Now it's made its' way onto the internet! With the annonymity of a faceless sea of people - it's hard to know who's who! This is a constant problem, and I've had a few members here clue me into what's going on around here. There are a few that ruined a good thing on the RPF,and there are still quite a few that ruining it now with the constant bickering back, and forth about who's right,or who's wrong about a certain subject! These ARE members that have been on here for YEARS! I'm not going to name anyone, but we ALL have our good days, and bad days. I'm no exception. I've already had this conversation with another member here about this very subject, and now I really feel unwelcomed in a community of THOUSANDS of people here that are SUPPOSED to be sharing experience, and ideas on how to make things that otherwise wouldn't exist! It's only a hobby type forum, and it's a privelage to be here - not a right! Anyone can join(except banned members),and it's free to do so right now,but how many would pay to keep their membership if it wasn't? Many peolple here feel compelled to stand up for their friends,or people that they respect openly -THIS is what is ruining the forum! Please people, send a P.M. t othe member(s)whos' post(s) you find offensive! If anyone feels so,please,P.M.me,andI'll either edit it,or remove all offensive comments! Please forgive the hijack! I just want to clear the air of all the sand I've kicked up here!:$

Run-on sentence error... gawk... awk... doobie... just let it slide. You gotta have thick skin here... we all do... just relax and don't get yourself worked up over every single snide remark thrown your way.

Yeah, iirc, the fat bottom lip was done after reference from the stunt helmet rather than the hero (before people were aware of the differences, afaik).

@ newbie:

I understand your thoughts and comments. See, this is not the only forum I'm a member of. I was lurking on the rpf since 02, I never registered because I never felt ready to show something. So many people here deliver awesome work and I have nothing to show...that kinda embaressed me everytime.

It's the same damn thing on ANY forum out there, no matter what the forum is all about.

You'll always have a bunch of people who were there since day one, mostly they are moderators or site admins. I really don't know if some of them think they have supernatural powers nor if they like to play god.

Every forum has it's 'hero' and his royal household of people who stick their head up his a** anytime they get the chance to. Maybe they live in the hope to get something back one day in the future or that they will be espacially considered for something this person makes in the future, that won't be avaiable to the public? I don't know.

See, I just ignore them. I'm sick and tired of reading through endless bashing threads, whitch hunts or anything like it.

It is what it is...a simple hobby, but things get out of control when it comes to money.

I've seen sooo many hypocritical idiots on various boards, telling that they will provide this or that to the community, and then want big bucks for a minimalistic amount of work. These people should give up the whole hobby, make up their lives and go get a better paid job.

Enough of that...it wasted my time long enough, let's talk about this lid.

And @ GINO:

I AM interested in your comment's on this, IF this is pure information about the origin, maker, etc. What I'm NOT interested in is 'well, that's crap...inaccurate from the beginning. Sell it and get an XY instead'
