eFX X-Wing pilot helmet

Hi Guys,

I saw a pic of the Luke X Wing pilot helmet here -

eFX - SirStevesGuide.com Photo Gallery

Also with the frenzy of the ANH Vader coming out thought the X Wing helmet deserved it's own thread for discussion.

Hopefully more pics will filter through from SDCC.

Not much to tell from the pics posted but one glaring error I noticed was the missing piece slats / grill ? that should be under the front of the mohawk.

Looking forward to more pics and a better look at the paintjob.

Cheers Chris

I have a real APH but depending on price I may have to snag one of these. It looks like the mic is taped on, hopefully they will correct the mohawk on the production helmet.

It is hard to tell, but that looks like fiberglass on the inside.

I hope that they find a better way of fastening the boom mic than sticky tape ... :)

Actually, the original propmakers incorporated the rubber striping of the original APH-6 helmet as a solid part of their casts. Then they put a different kind of rubber striping on top of that. So eFX's edge is correct.

There are fan-made X-wing/TIE helmet replicas that lack that step along the edge. Dreadnaught Industries' helmet is one example. Perhaps you are more used to seeing one of these.

In fact, I can not find anything that tells me that this is not a cast of a production-used helmet, except for an old statement of eFX's that they would have laser-scanned it and cleaned it up in a computer.
Personally, I wish that they had idealized it just a little bit. The not-so-straight side-burn triangles temples is one detail. There were screen-used helmets that were less wonky than this one ...

Will be interesting to see if they made the visor attachment accurate (i.e none of this swivel up and down nonsense).

I am assuming this going to be fiberglass and not vacu-formed plastic like the originals. I see the strip on the top of the mohawk is not a seperate piece because of it being fiberglass.

Overall it looks pretty good but I imagine the weathering is going to be difficult for them to reproduce in the factory.

Definetely getting one of those, always wanted a accurate version of this helmet. BRAVO EFX for making this available

Hi all, sorry I'm late to the party! I'm a bit stressed for time right now but I'll try and post later and shed some light on this awesome and IMO waaaay over due helmet release!

Steve.

Det ar mycket bra, Steve! :)

p.s. sorry....my Swedish is very rusty. Been years since i studied it...och det kommar inte ihag nu!

Can't wait for this helmet. I'd be great if EFX incorporated this bucket into their CE line as well and produced all of the deco variations.

I am really excited about this and the Vader helmet. I for one will be buying both. It is great that the licensed companies are trying that bit harder this year.

Me too.
I always wanted a good Luke X Wing helmet stand next to my Wedge helmet.
This indeed are two good projects that EFX makes.

Now I´m waiting for an original cast of a Royal Guard and Biker Scout Helmet.
They should do it soon!

Absolutely agreed and they can do them as injection molded ABS helmets, though I guess the cost of making the molds compared to fiberglass molds would be cost prohibitive in a way.
