EFX Darth Vader Reveal Helmet 2025

I've already made 2 of these, so this may be the only way I obtain another.
We'll have to see how the prototype turns out. If nothing else, if the scans turn out to be accurate, it will be dimensionally accurate at least...

It will be so accurate like EFX and Disney wants it.They can do whatever they want in shape, size and details before they are printing the prototype.
It can also be that the most parts of this mask will be 3D printed at the end.I think its cheaper to print this thing in china. If they really wanna build it like the Original with all the small parts and different materials it will be a lot more expensive and they will have a lot of problems if the chinese workers are glueing the parts wrong together.

My guess is they will have to take it into zbrush mask and separate the details pieces, patch in the holes then rebuild those details with clean new geometry. It is hard to tell from that picture, but it does look like it needs a lot of cleanup on that scan.

Cleaning up and restoring that scan is going to be a challenge, but it seems like a fun one to do.

I think the holes were deliberately made to the 3D model when making the picture. It makes no sense to see those kinds of holes in a 3D scan - they are clearly added in - probably so no one can take the image and use it as their own.

Would be very odd to have them be that large and that obstructive. The shape of the Vader facemask have enough distinguishable shapes to scan perfectly without markers. Would be very beneath amateurish to use those for this.

they could be holes, it is hard to tell from that picture. Some look like holes(tusks and edge of cheek) others look like stickers to me. If they used photogrammetry they would have to use scan spray and same if they used a regular laser scanner. Blue light scanner would not require scan spray, and they quality of scan you get from them is very nice. I just don't see them being allowed to use scan spray even if it's the evaporating kind.

That helmet is everything a regular scanner and photogrammetry does not like, black, smooth and reflective.

They would likely have access to scanners that didn't need markers or scanning spray. I doubt the holes have anything to do with the scanning and everything to do with keeping other people from using the picture. Other licensed companies have done something similar in early stages of production of a piece.

Lets see how detailed this really is at the end.Hasbro released a Revealmask.Sideshow also.
Its absolute impossible to fake some of the most important Originalparts of the mask like the shutters and dynodes.
It will be the best licensed mask at the end because of the scan...but never so realistic like a handbuilt one.
I couldn't agree more, it's the fine details that make an exact replica.

I imagine the final product will look quite nice. And in a worst case scenario, it may make for a great base to mod into a more accurate replica.

The only 2 parts that are really interesting for me on the EFX mask are the basemask(shape of the crown)and the gunmetal color.
All other parts are better Original or the community made them in the past with a near perfect quality.
This mask has only this "wow-effect"because they are so many small parts in different materials and colors that are working together. This can be
replicated..yes...but can EFX do this for a massproduced item? They have scans...yes...they have an idea...but can they do that in the right quality for a reasonable price? If the answer is no,they should release a new PCR helmet as a Revealversion. That would give people who wants a mask made from Originalparts the chance to mod it and others to have a great new helmet for cosplay.Perhaps this is their plan and not a high end replica?
We will see it.
