EFX X Wing Arrival, Thoughts & Pictures

So, a lot of people are unsatisfied by the paint job? PM me if you are interested in a repaint, i can do it for a reasonable price, U.S. only please.

Mine just arrived today. Apologies if this has been covered, but wasn't EFX going to make a plexiglass (Icons style) case available for this thing in the near future--can someone give me th scoop?

Mine arrived (no thanks to FedEx or NZ customs who collectively added just over 50% to the price). Top left laser cannon is a bit loose but it's otherwise intact.

So next question (after acrylic cases) is: who is going to step up and make replacement 1 piece canopies?

I was thinking of scratch-building a canopy but would rather buy one from someone if they're nice.

Seeing as the canopy, has to be grafted into the hull anyway, why not just do just that with what you guys have, would be a piece of cake to just sculpt that in as a one piece, then repaint!

I was going to ask a similar question but I haven't received mine yet and wasn't sure if the canopy is even removable. I would prefer a sleeker profile though.

Not sure what you mean by sculpting into the hull? Can you explain further?

For me personally, I would still want the canopy to remain a separate piece from the hull, just in case I ever decide to sell it. However, I would like the canopy itself to be one piece and also to get rid of the hinges. Those are the two main things I would like corrected.

Yes except the framing looks too chunky to account for the removable window glass and hinges.

I was thinking about something made from sheet styrene that would be a drop in replacement for people who don't want to do permanent modifications.

Sorry don't mean to digress from the canopy discussion, just wanted to ask anyone in the UK got this yet? I have one on order.....

So what exactly is the offending part about the canopy opening? Is the seam that visible with it closed? Or is it that you know the original did not open so you do not want this one to open? Is the shape wrong?

I think he means puttying & sanding the canopy to the hull so that it's one piece.

Yup thats what i meant :lol Easy to do, but, yeah if a new canopy is to be had, youll ned an eFX owner, that is willing i guess, i think the current canopy is fine for a bit of grafting in, once that thing is blended in to the hull, itll look pretty neat indeed IMO.

The visible hinges are the worst part IMO.

I don't know maybe its me but I look at the pictures and I do not anything offensive avout the seam line at the hinge. I can see where there are some slight misalignments along the leading egde of the canopy on some of the models but its pretty slight. Seems like some gentle shifting of the canapy and a tiny drop of glue would be all you need to get rid of that...

Now some of the paint issues... that I can see complaining about. The canopy, seems pretty minor to me form the pics I've seen certainly not worth hacking and painting... but that's just me.
