EFX X Wing Arrival, Thoughts & Pictures

I received my Mark Hamill signed metal eFX Plaque today (#44) .

Did anyone else get theirs?

Has anyone heard anything new regrding the eFX case?

has anyone else been charged and not yet received their x-wing, I have a notice my plaque is enroute, but still havent gotten my x-wing, although my credit card was charged a month ago

I paid up-front and recieved my X-Wing when the first batch shipped out. My plaque also arrived yesterday - #52.

Yea - received my x-wing a long time ago. I would seriously look into where your x-wing is.

My plaque just arrived too - #37

what is that black cardboard thing that comes with it. is there anything inside? I tried opening it, but I didn't want to force it. Is it just a empty backing?

oh hey - check that out.. I had some misplaced adhesive inside - which was preventing it from being pulled - but after I seperated it a bit - it slid out.. Thanks for the tip... i thought someone was playing a trick on me.. :rolleyes

Anyone have any solutions for excessive light leak from the engines? I know that there is always some, but one of my engines is really bad (about an inch of translucent plastic behind the removable part of the engine).

Unfortunately, it's all boxed up again because of construction of a new two story lobby/prop museum for my home theater. I have noticed the leak in other peoples pictures and it seems that one of the four engines is more extreme than the others. Have the room completely dark and take a look at yours. I would be interested in the outcome.

Aluminium tape and no more light leak ! Takes less than 1 minute per engine ;)

Has anyone done this on an eFX bird? I ask because it's behind the LED socket and I don't want to damage it removing the socket incorrectly.

My x-wing arrived today... I've gotta say that this is a VERY nice replica.

For those of you concerned about the hinge - don't be. The fit is a little "flexible" in that the canopy itslef flexes into the opening. you can pretty much eliminate the seam line with some fiddling and make it permanent with a touch of glue. It really is not a biggie.

Mine too has the light leak around the engines... aluminum foil does seem like it would be a pretty easy fix. I'll have to see if I can dig some out tomorrow.

I did notice a couple of small glue spots on it though... that has got me a bit annoyed. But overall the paint is pretty good, as is the fit. If not for the littel bit of visible glue "shiney" I'd be perfectly satisfied. The paintjob overall is very respectable. Like as has been mentioned before a touch contrasty but I suspect that the original was as well since those were the color chosen, it snot a fault of technique and if the colors match - well they match... As it is I'm very satisfied. I'll give it the fine tooth comb treatment in the full light of daylight... for $1200 its well worth it. Its a touch less then a full hand done custom as far as quality, but honetly I've seen some customs that were not as good. My digital camera took a dump so I have no pictures - sorry fellas... and gals...

Chiming in late as usual on the proportions issue:

These shots say it all... The SHAPE just looks right.

Not to me I'm afraid. Something funny about some proportions, and the fuselage has a very pyro backside; don't think I could be happy with one of these.

You're entirely right to stress that owners should be happy with it, though. "A good wine is a wine you enjoyed!"

I thought the fuselages (at least the upper fuselages) of the heroes were all cast from one sculpt, but with varying nose-caps. If that's wrong, someone please put me straight.

The upper fuses were cast from the same mould, the lower fuses were vac-formed over a buck.

As to the idea of a scanned copy of Red 3 painted with 5 stripes being an evil ploy... perhaps so, but I'd buy it like a shot if I had any dough. One paintjob later and the goal of an X prop replica with an MR Falcon level of shape accuracy is attained. Surely the Holy Grail for many a member here.

Ditto!

Hey, still catching up on this thread. Did EFX ever clarify the size issue? Was it overcompensation for shrinkage, or one of the Lucasfilm "constraints"?
