ive never had a trooper helmet before, except for one i bought off ebay, and that didnt go well. but i ended up making all my money back on that so i got the efx esb helmet, and this thing is awesome, i know its not "screen accurate" but i like the symmetry. ill probably get something better and more accurate later on, but for now this is great. i also built a quick stand for it and i like how that came out too.
one question i have though is if this (Stormtrooper Helmet PADDING Star Wars Prop - eBay (item 300433660720 end time Jan-28-11 03:46:52 PST)) helmet padding would fit the efx helmet, cuz the padding it comes with is pretty much non existant. ill also replace the frown mesh with some thats actually mesh and not just cheep black fabric.
also, if anyone here has modified their efx helmet id love to see what they did and how it came out.

thanks.

I bought that ebay sellers padding for my Biker Scout helmet...mehhh...it's not even like real padding, it is very thin. Also with all that padding in the face it get really hot

its kinda disapointing to hear that the padding isent the best, it looks realy nice. what do most people use to pad theirs? i wanted it to look as profesional as it can be while not costing a fortune.

Perhaps you could consider the original leaf style? Its my fav, as I love the studio look.

I had a MR CE earlyer (basically the same as yours). I painted it black inwards, and made padding from kneepads for worker pants. Turned out ok.

sorry for the noobness, but what is petal shape foam? im not too concerned with accuratness but if it looks good then itd be great

you could check out the forum i linked to in my earlier post you will many ways to pimp your lid

If you want the padding for wearing comfort you might want to consider glueing in a hard hat linen. That might be the best way to go. It would be adjustable to your noggin.

I'm with everyone else, avoid that padding. It seems to come in one of two forms; terribly thin or stiflingly hot.

If you want to mod this for practical use I'd say do the star for accuracy or if you want greater airflow then the hard hat liner is a good alternative. They're both equally comfortable. But yeah, like the others say go to FISD, find some inspiration then work out what fits in around your face. Ultimately what you do to it will depend on your climate and how long you're likely to be wearing it.

Geordie, for some reason I couldn't see your picture so I reposted it.

im not worried about the helmet getting hot because i plan on puting a fan in it. id like it to look nice and clean on the inside, so i dont think ill go the accurate route. with my master chief helmet, i used motorcycle helmet padding in it and its fits really snug and would be extreamly hot if i hadent put a fan in it, but its actually quite cool, and id like to do my trooper helmet the same way, so does anyone know if someone makes better full helmet padding?

and JasonCash, how thick is the padding for your biker scout because with a hoodie on the tk helmet fits realy nicely so it wouldent have to be that thick.

I use replacement football helmet pads. Easy to test fit with and dont make a mess if you take them out. Try used sporting stores great place for pads and straps really cheep.
