EFX PCR boba helmet

The metal ears and the visor hold the two halves(front and back) and the mandibles in place together and help keep the plastic from moving about.

I removed these items and can easily spread apart the mandibles and would say it is flimsy, but a very solid helmet when put together.

It is indeed a very beautiful helmet, and with the right care im sure it can withstand the rigors of trooping.

Why did you removed the ears?I would only remove the thin visor and put the fiberglass direct in the helmet.

The plastic is thin like the facemask of the PCR Vader. Not a problem for me.The stresslines are not really nice...but you must see the price.
A fiberglasshelmet with lineage and paintjob like this costs the double or more.

I have multiple helmets and wanted to show everyone the insides of the helmet. Plus I wanted to remove everything before fiberglassing to make sure all areas from the inside were covered so no resin spills out.

So you're excusing the gaps between the plastic sections soley on price?

Hasbro does better assembly at half the price.

I'm.aware of the alterations. I'd prefer a sturdier helmet. And I think the brow Gap is hideous. I'm not spending over $300 for a helmet full of gaps. It's is more accurate but that doesn't mean the build quality has to drop.

Here here!

I think this is trooping acceptable. Its lightweight, easy to mod and not at a harsh price point. However, it will not be in my collection because I don't troop and I already have a MR SE Bucket. It is what it is.. an affordable bucket and I was just glad to see EFX issue the bucket but as ALWAYS late. While the paint looks pretty good, it looks slapped together with visible paint seams/gaps and the interior strips are there just to cover the inside seems. IT is was it IS....

As my British friends would say it is the most pure example of CHEAP and CHEERFUL.... And you know what? That's OK with me. GC

Except it isn't cheap in Britain. The best price I've seen was £470, which is over $600 but those are long gone. Most of the remaining UK retail stock appear to be £550 to £600, which is just over $700 to just under $800.

So you're excusing the gaps between the plastic sections soley on price?

Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing? Or are you not aware that the Hasbro lid that was displayed has the exact same seams, and a very visible gap between the dome and brow in particular. Worse so than the eFX IMO.

So you are excusing Hasbro due to the price, but not eFX? That certainly seems like personal preference. The bottom line is this; It’s just how they’re assembled. If the gap bothers you, buy a fan made helmet like the FPH2.. Buy what you like. You’ve already made four posts in two pages about the gaps. No need to carry on complaining about a product that many of us are very very happy with.

I think, for me, the PCR line is a toy. It’s not screen accurate, it’s not a replica. It’s a toy. So that’s why when they bill it as a replica, like say their Vader Legends helmet, people get upset at the quality. Especially when you can get something half the price that’s almost as good from mass-market.

Yes it has some cool things about it, but for over $300? Not for me. Not a toy. I’d rather commission a from scratch build for a bit more. Now I do understand some people can’t afford that, and that’s fine, it’s just preference.

So... you didn't preorder and now its secondary market only. Yeah I get that. However $600 for a licensed helmet is still consider reasonable. I would not pay $800 for this particular example

I ordered mine from BAIT in October and they said it will be shipping this week. Looking forward to it. For what it is, I think it looks really good

wow, they are still in stock on eFX’s website for $380 which is £290. To charge 3x times that seems like robbery!

I was never excusing the Hasbro. I was mearly stating their assembly and type of plastic in superior. I've owned both PCR Vader and BS helmets. Hasbro has better plastic and assembly.

The sections sit much closer on those Hasbro pics thus not leaving hideous gaps like EFX.

I think you guys are over looking that just because it's a more accurate helmet.

Once the shipping is paid, which will be considerable, the price jumps up. Then there will be a customs charge that is applied to the sum of the product and the shipping. So by the time of receiving it the price will be far greater than the shown efx price.
I did try to pre order through the recognised UK importer but they only import to sell to approved retailers. They don't take orders direct. They only refer you to one of the approved retailers they are supplying to, so the order has to go through them. Those prices are as I've previously stated with the best price being $600.

This is not a cheap and cheerful item in Britain. Most people will end up in the £500, and greater, region.

It's first world problems stuff, no doubt. I was simply trying to illustrate that it won't be cheap here. I just want to see it for what it is and will likely then sell it on. I expect I'll take a hit on it.
