Upcoming project mentioned on the rebelscum forums. Thoughts and feelings? Personally, I love this as I am enamored with McQuarrie's designs and hoping the eventual Boba helmet will be coming soon. Hoping its not going to be only a sig. edition thats limited to only 200-250 helmets and priced at $1000, but that's my wallet speaking.

That does look cool.

I think EFX understand price is important in these times and I would guess under $500.

I love the fact they are possibly doing this, unfortunately they aren't getting it quite right.

Right now its way too skinny.

The helmet should be wider as shown in the Art of Star Wars. At least as wide as the movie helmet is in proportion

Depending on the final tweaks that you know they are going to make I probably will be in for one.

Very cool of them to do the McQuarrie Vader and this

If that design is the primary point of reference, the "teeth" present on the final helmet design is not in this sketch. The lines are across the slot and may possibly be a black hose.

Come to think of it, in a side by side comparison it's obvious just about all the proportions are wrong. I'm not a purist by any stretch of the imagination, but if that's what they're going with, they may as well change their name to Rubies.

Seeing it next to the concept art, if that really is the concept art they are working from, then they have a long way to go, imo.

Also, though it's interesting to see physical versions of the concepts, I'd much rather see some more accurate movie helmets.

Looks neat for a start, hell I would love to have a sig. piece of McQuarrie in my collection, still waiting on the CV Skywalker helmets

It is modeled after the top sketch.

I think this sculpt blows anything attempted so far. My own included.

Not even close proportion wise, or "feel" wise. When I say proportions, I mean how each sculpted element relates to one another in size and shape. The elements are there but they are out of whack on many levels. Now feel wise, I mean it has a weird snow machine helmet vibe (for lack of a better description), and neither a Star Wars or McQuarrie vibe.

We are working with Mr. McQuarrie on this helmet. He chose which concept he wanted us to do. Also, we are going by his direction. (that is what made him so happy with the concept Vader! We actually listened to him!)

It may be what he likes or wants it to look like, but it isn't what he drew, but I guess as long as he is happy more power to him. Don't get me wrong, I love his work and many things EFX produces, but this, to me, misses the mark. I'll stick with my observation - the elements are there but...

Keep up the good work, Bryan. How's the DV helmets coming along???

I have just noticed that the "tear" detail found on the original Stormtrooper helmet is is in the early McQuarry sketches, this proves it was added to the sculpt whilst following pretty closely to these pics.

Seeing as you're working so closely with McQuarrie on this I'm a bit surprised you didn't work with Brian Muir on the ANH Vader. Maybe that's just me, but since the cast was cleaned up anyway, why not have the actual sculptor provide some input?

Must have!!!!!!!

Speaking of Stormtroopers what's the word on the "idealized" stormtrooper helmet???

I think its pretty good but I would go over the model again. I understand you are basing it on that one picture but a sort of blend would be better. The first sketch posted is clearly meant to be the same helmet from the front.

Quick and dirty paint editing.
