eFX ANH DARTH HELMET SAMPLE!!

Hi Chris. There are no remnants of that tabs at all, that area is smooth and clean now so it there were there its been totally erased from this casting.

In above photo, there seems to be a black part on the side of the mouthpiece on the fan piece (that section in the photo right above Vader's left tusk), and eFX has painted it gunmetal. Gino's provided some screenshots on the scum forum and sideshow freaks, that seem to show that painted. But, it doesn't seem like anyone ever paints that gunmetal on replicas till now. Is that something people have been wrong about all this time?

Here's the photos Gino provided. There's definately what appears to be painted secions. I find if you look at the black around the nose, where it meets the section in question, it seems to point to it being a different color.

As I recall there was some argument over this back then, (no big surprise really). But yes, to have that section painted the contrasting color would be the 'correct' way it would seem.

I'm a little slow, if you'll forgive me. Do you mean painted gunmetal is 'correct'? Or left black?

Great pics David!

Don't get me wrong - I applaud eFX for making the Legend edition available but to my eyes, your fan made casting looks much more like what I was expecting from the Legend. (ie. movie accurate ruggedness).

In comparison to your fan casting, the Legend looks like the Limited. :confused

Chris

Thanks Chris.
I have been shocked the die hard Vader talk has not pointed out just how "clean" the legend looks. I really expected there to be more surface detail than what was left, but it seems that efx chose to remove most of the surface detail on only leave a select few major landmarks.

I imagine that has a lot to do with the manufacturing process. How do a crew of Chinese finishers know what to leave on and what is a defect?

Not really a surprise after all the experiences in past threads regarding this helmet. Critics seem to be not allowed and everything is seen as an attack against persons who are involved or missunderstood as an envious reaction :rolleyes

I think everyone who wanted a nice representation of Vader can be pleased with the result...it looks like a high quality product with nice stuff like helmet stand, plaque etc etc.
The die hard fans wont be much impressed.....the wrong dome mechanism, questionable paint sheme and the way to clean surface of faceplate and especially the dome. I'm happy i "just" ordered the limited version to have at least one idealised Vader helmet in my collection.

I don't believe that is remotely the issue at all. The master casting either had the items they wanted or it did not.

It was clearly a business decision by those involved to make a very sanitized product.

When they start shipping as we see it next to some of the better castings like the SL, there may be some questions as to why.....

Yes. It looks like someone in the factory did a "Legend" paintjob on a "Limited" casting.

It looks far too clean to be "straight out of the Rick Baker mold" in my opinion.

I do not own the SL so i can not compare them directly but looking at the photos I have seen over the years, I can not say why the SL and this are not more similar if they came from the same source mold.

I know Thomas is on the list to get one and they should be shipping this week, so we shall get a review soon I hope.
