EFNY Snake Plissken Boots

Just thought I'd share a couple pics of my buckles. These are the vintage ski boot buckles i was fortunate enough to find on ebay. As i've stated before, its rather difficult to find boots having both wide enough buckles AND 5 on each side. Mine came painted black, i've already stripped a couple down. my ORIGINAL plan was to modify vintage alpinestars hi point boots, but after meeting Jon8712 and trying on his custom made plissken boots AND worried about any potential resale value of the hi points (they still go for a pretty good amount on ebay) i've decided to re-sell them, and am having a custom pair made!!! Really excited about them. i've got my boot maker based out of california, and am waiting on confirmation from a couple blacksmiths regarding the front shin plates

-enjoy! and big thanks to Art (Jon8712) for all his help and info on these BADASS boots

bdude,

What a shame that you were in town and I didn't know. I would have definitely met up with you guys and brought my boots to play too! PLUS, I have a few Snake Plissken custom figures I've made i would have liked you guys to check out.

Damn shame about that shirt though!

Please keep me informed on your custom bootmaker?! I want in, bro! These boots have been my personal obsession for 30 years!!!

Got me a starter set of buckles off a ski forum for $10 plus shipping.

Maybe not perfect but worth $10 I think.

Can't imaging the price for pure custom boots. I know my dad had a pair of Bullhide Cowboy Boots made for him for $600 and some Gator skins for $1200.

Also found out the Alpine Stars my girlfriend got me were size 5 and I wear a 9 minimum.

Anybody want a set for a kid's snake outfit?....

Those buckles are even more difficult to locate than it is to find someone to make the shin plates. I have a friend who works for a machinist company who said they could make the plates, but he has blown off two of our scheduled meetings to discuss the project for his girlfriend. Fortunately I found a blacksmith who told me either he or his friend can make them. I just sent an e-mail to him inquiring if he or his buddy could also make the buckles.

These boots are a real pain in the ass to have made. :wacko

in regards to this shirt... i just got mine today, and it has a bit TOO much shine for me. i'm now waiting on fabric samples of several different blends of spandex from spandexworld.com, and i'll probably use this shirt as a pattern and swap out the zippers. good thing i can sew, i guess huh? :ninja
only reason i didn't just make it from the get go, was not knowing about leaving room for the stretch factor.

but, my advice to any plissken costumers, sadly, is to pass up this shirt. it just looks like painted on latex, really...

What kind of finish did you request for that shirt? I purchased one from that same place and mine doesn't appear that shiny.

i got the (Cire') wet look finish because that's the kind its says on the site that the 'escape from NJ' fan film used, and that hector dude (snake in the movie) is apparently REALLY anal and fussy about screen accuracy ESPECIALLY in regards to plissken stuff, so i figure that's what i should be getting. but in retrospect i should've probably got the milliskin fabric. i just got a black milliskin spandex swatch from some fabric house in NYC. and it looks and feels perfect! (i bet that's the kind you had made) but even still i DO NOT like the neck opening on mine, so i'm alright with using the shirt as a pattern for when i get my fabric in, and just modding the neck area

Same here on wanting a pair of shin plates.

The guy in Japan who is making the pants also makes shin plates but is asking 350.00 per pair.

so... i heard back from a blacksmith regarding the shin plates... $500!!!! PLUS $200 TOOLING CHARGE?!?! hahaha so... probably not. i still waiting to hear back from about 3 more blacksmiths, but if they're all in this region, i'm just going to go with my original plan and making figerglass castings of the plates. is it ideal? no. i prefer metal, but fiberglass, if made with enough layers should be plenty strong. and lets face it, none of us are going to be chased up fire escapes by crazies or fighting giant wrestlers with fu manchu's or anything else the might cause them any damage. so i'm convinced fiberglass is gonna probably be my way to go. once i get a scuplt or a mold i'll post pics and if any of you all are interested in a pair, i'll hook it up

this is my NEW shirt that i made out of jumbo spandex from spandexhouse.com i used the suzi fox shirt as a pattern, but modified the neck opening to fit tighter, and just recycled the zippers!! fits GREAT! so much happier with this one.

Keep us posted, JUN FAN! You may be our only hope on those shin-plates!!

I spoke with the buddy of the blacksmith on the phone recently and he is going to do the work for me. The price is $750.00 with a 50% deposit up front but he is going to make as many prototypes until the design is accurate and identical to each plate.

Screw it, I'm doing it. I already paid to have the boots made. Might as well go all the way for accuracy. Steel shin plates/guards are the only way to go for me, especially as a student of martial arts; I need to have something that can take one hell of a beating if confronted in a physical altercation.

I'm also having the boots made to open like vintage Alpinestars Hi Point boots so that tucking pant legs will be easier and more practical.

I'm going to have one hell of a pair of badass Gullfire jet glider boots. :cool

Okay, I still held out a little futile hope that I was mistaken when I found out my incoming boots were size 5. No dice.

So seriously. If anybody has a kid that would make a good mini-Snake. Give me a holler. I'll give you guys first shot before I put them on Evilbay. I paid $120 shipped and I will sell them at a loss.

They are the 4 strap metal clasp version, comes with the original box (box is pretty rough, the boots look nice). PM with questions or for pics.

I'll put up a thread in the junkyard soon too.

Looks excellent, man! But you're really going to have to beef up those guns. ;)

For my (small) part, I decided my size 16 Alpinestars weren't going to work, but it turns out there aren't any vintage MX-riding giants looking for boots on eBay. :(
