EFNY Snake Plissken Boots

Well, I just received my first rejection from a guy who said, "No sir – ‘regret that those shin plates are out of scope for my shop." I have another inquiry into a place that makes more artistic works from metal, so hopefully they will work out.

I'm looking for a local company so I can actually meet with them rather than work with them through e-mail and/or phone calls. The first place was a total wash-out; the company does not list an e-mail address on their website, they have an incorrect fax number (and they admitted that they are aware of it!), and after calling them for an e-mail address, my message was returned to me as undeliverable. I then attempted to fax the information to their correct number and that failed! They don't even have a snail mail address listed on their website and that just leaves me wondering about how they stay in business (loyal clientele would be my guess).

I'm not ready to surrender, though. I still have plenty of time before Halloween this year, and the internet has a plethora of information available.

@ magpie, Are these yours?! they look great. i'm currently using vintage hi-points as my base for plissken boots. i've gotten a set of vintage ski boots for the buckles and a friend of mine is doing the shin plate for me. i feel pretty confident about the top three, but do you have any issue with the bottom two or any of the buckles not staying locked back, or coming undone? that has me a little worried, because its not like they spring lock back in place, they rely on tension from the cable. the top ones are anchored far enough back around the calves to retain that kind of tension, but the bottom two make me nervous... any input or help???

thanks

Thought you might like to see these :love

Yes the boots are mine. The buckles are a problem in that the bottom two don't lock back properly. The problem was solved on mine by having strong magnets placed on the buckles that hold them in place.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip on the magnets! that should help immensely!!

went to FL recently and met up with jon8712, who let me try on his IMPRESSIVE plissken boots!!! they fit me perfectly! hard not to try and run off with them, lol

Does anyone know where I could find those boot buckles, or someplace that can make them? My search is turning up one giant goose egg.

what they are, are vintage 70's era ski boot buckles. i managed to track some down on eBay, BUT... the problem is finding boots that have a) 5 buckles per side and b) wide enough buckles to work for the look.

Thanks for the info, Spylocke. I'm going to inquire to a machinist company soon in a town about an hour away from me because they said they do "any job, big or small". I assume the boot needs to be finished first so they can have accurate dimensions for the curvature of the shin plates to plug into the CAD, but I'll find out for sure after I make my inquiry.

I'll keep you informed here.

i've been told by a couple metal artists' to look into blacksmiths. that that is something more in their realm.

Cool, thanks for the information. I've been searching on eBay (amongst other places) but I haven't been lucky enough to find them yet.

Thanks! I have a friend who works at a machinist shop but he doesn't think they can do the engraving/stamping (i.e., the design on the plates). Perhaps I'll have better luck finding a blacksmith to do the work.

i was in town a week ago for my dad's birthday. he lives in port richey. and i met up with jon8712 in clearwater. awesome dude! he brought all his plissken toys
Damn, how lucky you are, bdude! Those are a sweet pair.

Where in Florida were you? I live in the Tampa Bay area!

bdude93, you are my hero! That shirt is too sweet!
in regards to this shirt... i just got mine today, and it has a bit TOO much shine for me. i'm now waiting on fabric samples of several different blends of spandex from spandexworld.com, and i'll probably use this shirt as a pattern and swap out the zippers. good thing i can sew, i guess huh? :ninja
only reason i didn't just make it from the get go, was not knowing about leaving room for the stretch factor.

but, my advice to any plissken costumers, sadly, is to pass up this shirt. it just looks like painted on latex, really...

I've been hunting down parts lately and was wondering if anybody would be interested a set of 6 toe spikes for something like $3 shipped? I'm looking at buying a box but it comes with 24 and even keeping a few extra for myself, that's still far more than I need.

Got a lead on some buckles and a set of Alpinestars on the way. Looking at a second set of boots though as I think my first might get ganked by a bud who wants them to do Goose from Mad Max. Shame to hear about the shirt. Might still get it as a stopgap measure though.

I took this last weekend after working on my Grordbort stuff nonstop for a couple of days and not shaving. I think I'll make a decent Snake even if I'm a few years young.

I also just wanted to thank you guys for all the resources you've put out there to help a guy put things together. :thumbsup

This may be a dumb question but how sure are you guys that those are golf spikes?

Logger spikes seem much more like the really sharp stuff you would mount on the end of a boot. They have the same general profile and mounts though.

I really hate double and triple posting but I think this thread deserves a bump.

Does anyone have a zip or folder of some high-res reference images pulled from the BD release? For such a famous guy, there aren't really that many images easily found. I have maybe 2 dozen and not nearly enough of the belt/holsters/etc and boots.
