ED-209 by Moderoid

Reaching the finish line. I added some more wires to the feet, added the ‘handles’ in the mouth area as well as adding some of the silver parts. Still trying to decide what to do about weathering. I often find it hard to dirty up a model when it has come out pretty good. I will decide after I put the wires and hoses and decals. Still fine tuning his stance.

I think a minimum of wear & tear is needed. Maybe some oil in the slides for the body to go up and down, also near the canon (light smoke around the arm?) Besides that, real sharp build/results:cool::cool:(y)(y):love:

Looking REALLY good, Fett_Ish!

I agree with pretty minimal weathering. From the still frames I looked at, there was maybe some minor paint chipping effects on the toes, rub effects and grease around the bolts and crevices, and a decent oily effect on the silver shoulders. Beyond that, maybe some flash burn/gunshot residue around the gun barrels and missile rack. Unless you're going for a more "world used" ED, I'd imagine he would pretty much be a low-use prototype machine, so probably not much in the way of dings, dents, scratches, rust, dirt and grime.

Remember... these machines were almost fresh off the assembly line - prototypes, so wearhering should be limited to moving parts, edges that can risk getting scraped and oil stains and gunfire residue in limited areas. So I agree with what the others have said.

If you do a RoboCop 3 one... you can go all out with the weathering.

Thanks a lot guys! I think minimal for sure. I added the braide hoses to one side, I maybe should have gone up a size but I gotta finish. I also put his antenna back. It is an old usb to usb c sheath with really thin solder to give shape. Now that I see pictures there are some rough spots by the
‘Mouth’ and antenna I want to address before decals and weathering.

Well, other than a couple splashes of silver paint and the missiles I’m calling ED-209 done. I quickly put Robo together yesterday just to see them together. Gotta figure out how best to paint him and then between ED and Cain he will go

Having gotten Cain and then seeing OOP ED-209, I was bummed to see the crazy prices ED commanded on the secondary market. Thankfully Moderoid has re popped him and I picked one up for a pittance via BBTS. Thankfully I got in on the pre order as, at least last month, they were sold out already! Anyhoo, as with their other kits everything is molded in color and highly posable. Given as I want to paint him, I have built up as much as I can before painting sub assemblies. The lower legs will be painted last as they will need some seem work that can’t be done until attached to the upper leg and a lot of painting seem work and assembling has to be done first. Essentially the whole model will be built and painted except the lower legs.
Some mods are, the antennas on the top, I carved off and will replace with some wire covered in heat shrink tubing. There are some rubber tubing for the arms that I have mini braided metal tubin replacements, some photo etch for the mouth and some small ‘handles’ made of wire, and finally on the feet under the toes I am putting very small wires to replicate the miniature, as well as sanding down the hard edges on the feet as in the movie it’s all a bit smoother edged. Any other ideas are welcome!
Love to see/hear about the details you do and add. I have the kit but I have not finished it yet. Sanded and dry fitted all the parts and am extremely happy with fit over all. Made me realize a real one wouldn't be able to walk. LOL. Did you do a thread for Cain? I have him as well and would love to see how I can improve them both.

I believe Fett_Ish and I both did Cain as well and posted a couple of pics earlier in this thread. I think we agreed that Cain overall was an excellent kit but we both replaced the minigun (which, imho, looked like total garbage and desperately needed individual barrels instead of just 2 sides sandwiched together). The only other thing I wish they had done with Cain was make the fingers on the hand articulated at each joint, but modding it would have been considerable effort with little real benefit, so I left it as-is.

Besides maybe a nice metallic paintjob and rebuilding the minigun, I think Cain needs very little modification.

Thank you. I did not do a build thread for Cain, but here are some pics. As bingoh said the gun was rebuilt and the only other thing I did was use some scale conduit type cabling to replace the black rubber tubing. He is fully painted as well.
