Easy 3D Modeling

"There's nothing wrong with Blender's UI, people are just too lazy to learn something that works right."

This is all you will ever hear from diehard Blender world. No matter what. They would still be saying it if Blender's UI required you to cut your dick off.

There was a discussion about Blender on the X-Plane forum and several people commented how hard it was to use. I put essentially what I said here on that forum (Blender pain in butt to learn, but powerful) I got five or six PMs telling me I was lazy and Blender's UI is the best around and if I had trouble learning it I must just be dumb or variations on that theme.

As for Tinkercad, which I still haven't tried, all I've found is that the free accounts will end at some point. Judging by their pricing page it's $19 per month for a personal account (once they start charging). I assume they are using the adobe model of you pay for a month and then can use if for one month, but if you don't want to pay for it the next month you can pick up whenever, since they don't offer an annual.

Anyone tried MODO ?

I tried the 15 day trial. I liked it. Its interface is a little different, but I think it's fairly easy to pick up on. I didn't really get to make much in the 15 days, but I can see possibilities. Someone told me the guys behind MODO were Autodesk 3ds Max employees that had their UI proposal shot down and when they left the company Autodesk let them take the UI because they didn't see how anyone would want to use it. If that's true, big mistake.

I'm not sure where NormanF learned that tinkercad will be gone in April, I tried to find that somewhere to learn more, but couldn't. Maybe he can post a link to that info for me.

PANIC!

RELIEF!

The shutdown plan has been rolled back and effective immediately new users are again able to sign up for the site. Even better, at the request of Autodesk, we have supercharged the free plan. You can now create unlimited designs, all import and export functionality is enabled and ShapeScripts are turned on for free accounts. We have automatically upgraded all existing free accounts to this new powerful plan. This account will be offered for a limited time only so make sure you sign up as soon as possible.

Correct, tinkercad. Well, I live 20 minutes from East Tennessee's technology corridor, but I am on dial up (or the occasional link to my smartphone). We are an underserved area less than a minute from I75. No DSL. No fiber. No cable television. Broadband is too expensive for the few megs they give you. Satellite is the same thing, but kind of squirrelly around here due to weather and other factors. (shrugs). I like it, but I extremely desire some unlimited highspeed!

Yes, that would definetly be a problem.
