Easiest way to add Prop sound effects

Radio Shack digital sound recorder for $11.00
I use these plus a mini amp that I always build--loud as heck, and you can build for about $5.00

I'm looking to do a Ring Wraith cosplay in the future - and man I want that scream. Is this rig something that could be concealed in a hood? :p I'm trying to figure out how to get the volume I need, but still have it compact enough

Blaster core is the plug-and-play option.

But Adafruit has some nice options right now; a couple of stand-alone sound playback boards with multiple trigger options, both with included amp and without. They take WAV or OGG files and show up as a mass storage device over USB; just drag the files you want into the device, then put a button on your selected trigger leads.

I tried a few of the greeting card sound modules and, by far, the bigDawgs Greetings modules are the best. For one thing, they're loud! They come with a great speaker. It's amazing powerful for a little speaker. Also they're well made and for all the abuse I give them glue and moving them around, never had a problem. The software to upload sound samples is also very good. Simple to use and solid. Only drawback is their powered by little button batteries with apparently are good for 200 or so triggers. Batteries are replaceable, but I usually hook up a AA battery holder for mine so its good for around 1500 plays. Pretty easy to do. I love sound modules, so much to goof around with. Here's one I made put annoying use last week.
