Well microsoft mandates that achievements have to be put in a game by the company and how many there are. Sony does, heck it took konami 4 years to offer achievements for metal gear solid 4 and that was because fans wanted them. The only time i think you should get an achievement is if you do something hard like beat an optional boss that's insanely strong (like the emerald weapon in final fantasy 7). Multiplayer is ruining the game industry. I've been to a few blogs of folks who work or worked in it and they're all saying they see another industry collapse like in 1983 and a lot of companies will split apart again or it'll be the new companies that pick up the pieces.
They're also focusing way too much on mobile gaming. No tablet can equal the power of a normal gaming PC. I'm seeing more an more kids in their 20s or younger buying 25 year old games and systems around here. That tells me even kids are tired of the new crap. my friend and i haven't had our xboxes on in days. heck i'm playing the old final fantasy games on the psp right now and i'm happy as a pig in mud.
