Dr Who - Sonic display builds - New 8 sonic Version

Re: The Rassilon Sonic display Carousel - Build (For Sonic Competition)

Now that would be an excellent idea, :thumbsup Oh, Now I have to make the ID plate bigger to fit the judges on there, but well worth it. :cool

They would need to send me a pdf of there signature if they would like it on the ID plate.

Don't forget your sig! ;)

Re: The Rassilon Sonic display Carousel - Build (For Sonic Competition)

Good work on the display stand, the cracke finish on the base is a nice touch.
Whoever wins the competition is going to be very pleased.

Re: The Rassilon Sonic display Carousel - Build (For Sonic Competition)

Have ordered the engraving brass, but it wont be arriving till next week, that stuff is expensive 2” x 2” $100Aud.

Oh my sig looks crap, oh I could have an artisan sig, :) but I’m not an artisan, :cry anyhow will get an art concept drawing of the proposed ID plate posted in the next day or so. :thumbsup

Re: The Rassilon Sonic display Carousel - Build (For Sonic Competition)

$100:eek Are you sure that's not titanium??
Love the carousel! Reminds me of the old barber containers!
Jeff

Hey yeah your right, now that you mentioned it, maybe it was my chilled hood subconscious mind that was play a part in the design. By taking me back to a time when my mum would take me to the barbers for a trim, when I had long flowing blond curly hair. :wacko

Re: The Rassilon Sonic display Carousel - Build (For Sonic Competition)

Found this brass plated knob when I was wondering around the hardware shop about two days ago, and they were on special for half price and thought that they world be a grate addition to the Rassilon sonic carousel lid, I had to re-tap the thread in the knob from M3 to M6, so there was very little modification needed to make it part of the display.

Re: The Rassilon Sonic display Carousel - Build (For Sonic Competition)

Looks perfect!

The only thing I think would look better is a classic series Demat Circuit for a knob. ;)

Re: The Rassilon Sonic Display Carousel - "Complete" (For Sonic Competition)

The engraving laminates showed up yesterday and this morning I started work on the sonic display ID plate.

To do the engraving I used a 60 Deg V-router tool, cutting depth was 0.03mm, the engraving laminate is 1.6mm thk, so now that that build is complete I now have a working template to start work on the competition winning sonic display. :thumbsup

Well if you’re still looking then how about one of these’s new mono stands, just came of the Rassilon CNC today, there are 2 versions, the desk top version see bellow, comes in a kit version only, no earth moving equipment needed for any assembly.

But whats that you say, would like to have a light so it can be display at night, ok then, and here it is, the same version that comes with a light in the base, the new mono sonic stand will except all Dr Who sonic 11th, 10th and even river songs sonic.

Re: The Rassilon Mono Sonic display - New Version

Since the 11th toy fits the monostand would the classic series sonic sit right in it as well or is a version of the stand that would also under development?

Nope, the mono stand will except all sonics, very much universal.

Although it was pacifically designed for the 11th sonic in mined, as I have odered a remote 11th sonic and needed a stand for it, thats how the mono stand came to be.

Not bad at all ;)

Will there be a multi version of this one?
I have so fare the Brass Sonic you made for me, A CT ceramic, and A repainted CO.
I want to add an MFX and An Aztec sonic too so I would need one that holds 5 of them.

How do the two struts hold the sonic from falling?

A display that would holds five sonics at once, oh that just cannot be made, your asking for the impossible, no way, that’s just madness, that would take me years to work that out, you would have to be some sort of mathematical sonic displaying genius to get that many sonics in one display, that’s just silly talk.

Do you wont them facing one way or in a circular display.

Re: Dr Who - Sonic display builds - New Mono Version

I have seen the ones that Russ has done and I would pretty much want a tiered Stand like this:

Or like your Carrousel ;)

I like how you designed the Struts and your base. maybe there is a way to incorporate that in to a horizontal display like above.

Gus

They are an excellent acrylic sonic display stand, I have one at work that holds my FDS
I only do vertical type that have a light in the base.
