Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build - (Update - April. 8. 2011)

I have modified the Shin from the original Pepped part as some may remember was too bulky.

It's a little slimmer now and still fits over my leg. I doubt I'll have to make it 2 part to put my leg in anymore. Which is good.
I also Pepped and strengthened the Shoe, thighs and cod piece.

Next on deck are:
Thigh addons, shoe flaps. Quick builds out of cardboard.

Nice work Stef! i was also going to use the same pep file for the feet that you have made, as is it seems the most practical for walking and being able to bend your foot! and you can slip each half over your shoe lol

Yeah, I always liked that file. I agree! Most Practical.

Thanks man,
Yes, the same shoe. Can't go wrong with a classic file. :)

Looking good, are you going to add more filler and smooth out the calves or is that bit done now?

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build - (Update - April. 19. 2011)

How do you lay fiberglass and resin with such ease? I hate working with it. It's messy, causes little strands to get everywhere, etc.. hard to keep in place and then paint the resin on... time is so short it starts to stick to your hand instead of pepped piece... etc.. if you have any advice I'd love to hear stealth.

Hi Jordan. I'm going to make a video tonight explaining.

It's really quick and easy.

Thank you very much!

I am resining my helmet's exterior tonight and plan on keeping it in 3 pieces throughout the hardening process. So I am very excited to see your quick and easy method to glassin'

Cheers!

Re: IRON MAN - Mark III Armor Build - (Update - April. 19. 2011)

I would advise against the 3 piece hardening. It will not sit proper once done. Glassing is very easy yo keep clean and smooth just have to take your time and do it. If it's kicking to fast for you just add 1% cat instead of 2% (max 10-12 oz at a time) you'll get 20-25 min work time, lots of time. ;)

Hello Clinton,

Last time I kept my helmet as a 1 piece and slush cast some smooth-cast 300. That worked beautifully... However when I cut the faceplate off and the back piece. I added unwanted width to those cut lines.... since a dremel discs is thicker than I'd want it to be by nature.. Plus You lose the inner grooves and lips.

The pepping pivot point? Not sure what you mean Zabana.
Please explain :)

Damn Stef, i went to your youtube page and there was like 4 new vids

Yeah, Matt.
People were pm'ing me on youtube.
These were new people interested in how we build.
I just made some quick videos explaining the basics the best I could.

It was tough to keep explaining the same thing over and over in PM.
So making videos was a better idea.

The glassing video will technically be part - 5 :)
