Ah, I see! I don´t know him since "Community" is not "on my TV" (which is located in Germany ). Sorry, did not research him thoroughly enough, just visited his website, where he shows off a lot of art projects that he did.

But if he tries to be funny, then it´s still a performance act, probably trying to get a reaction out of people. Which apparently worked

For the people who are very upset, do any of you have any similar strong feelings about several of The Last Airbender's main cast being portrayed by white actors? Of all the various (and sometimes preposterous) analogies presented in this thread, this one seems to be the most a propos given the source material. I was wondering if these casting decisions have made anyone's temp. rise.

Actually, YES. I've been complaining about what they did to Avatar the Last Airbender since they showed the first teaser trailer. An entirely asian cast played by white people. Ridiculous. What? There's no good Asian actors in Hollywood? Absolutely ridiculous.

I've also been complaining about the stupid Prince of Persia movie. Again...played by white people.

Its an absurb trend that Hollywood should have dropped YEARS ago. If anything's racist its how Hollywood refuses to stop casting whites in minority roles.

As for Spiderman... Peter Parker IS a white character. He was developed as a white character he should STAY as a white character. I don't see how saying this is in any way racist. I'm tired of people trying to cram PC Bull down everyone else's throats and make this into something it's not.

What's next? Maybe they should remake Conan the Barbarian and cast 50 Cent. Oh, I know! Christian Bale should be replaced as the Dark Knight with with Denzel Washington.

Wrong, anybody who knows me knows that I am a big fan of Don Glover. If he wants an an audition I don't see any reason why not. Spider-Man may be drawn as a white kid, but there is nothing inherently white about the character. I and others have already mentioned this in the thread, however, like CTF said, some people choose not to read the thread and just "react."

Anyway, it's funny (in a sad way) how predictable that reaction here was going to be, and it's clear by some of those reactions that a large chunk of The RPF just doesn't like black people.

Stig, I like a lot of what you write here. That said, the above was the stupidest, most asinine thing you have ever let your fingers type out. I will say it again...you do not change a role to fit an actor, you hire an actor who fits the role.

I think ethnicity/race is a part of a character. I'd be mad if they made Parker hulking muscular. Blonde. An amputee. Black. A woman. I simply think sticking to the established character is worth doing.

Isn't that it, right there? Being white makes him inherently white. Just like he's drawn with the costume on, no one would want too big a departure from that aesthetic, either.

Do you guys not read comics? Nick Fury was black in the Ultimates universe BEFORE Sam Jackson played him. That is what his movie and animated counterparts are based on. Not Sam Jackson.

And on this far cry topic of Donald Glover playing Spider-Man... It'd be kinda cool seeing a rich May and Peter Parker. What with all that rice money left by Uncle Ben, Peter could actually invent web shooters. lol! Get it? Uncle Ben? I crack myself up.
