This contest has become what we refer to in the prop world as a CLUSTER ****!!!!

Very unfortunate... Hopefully this gets resolved shortly.

I agree that this thread should be deleted by a Mod and a new voting thread should be started with all of the entries whether it be by DC or Jason or whomever...

The reactors we've seen so far are great but we do need to see all of them.

Well, it's been over a week since the deadline and five days since the first photos went up. I can only imagine how frustrating and disappointing it must be for those whose entries haven't yet seen the light of day. Of course, they will have the advantage of freshness over those that have already been on show.

The longer this thread stays here before voting is allowed, the less excitement and therefore votes there will be when it does begin. I don't wish to appear ungrateful to Darth for arranging the competition, but lots of people have invested time, effort and care in their creations and have already been very patient waiting for the next stage. I don't think at least an update is too much to ask. Maybe it's time to take up jason1976 on his kind offer of looking after organising the voting or for a mod to pick this up (or at least unsticky the thread until it's ready for voting).

Well I am going to say it. There is no excuse for Darth Calibar's lack of involvement in this! This is a sad excuse for a contest and this entire thread should be pulled!

thats a shame too, nothing urks me more than that. that was one main concern about a teacher i had this past semester, i would do an assignment, turn it in on time, get it scrutinized (and graded last, id wait until far after class for him to finish grading what he had, only for mine to be the final graded one), others turn theirs in months later for full credit and no late penalties.

it pisses me off to no end. really, why hasnt a mod come in a removed this thread as per request of atleast 5 people?

and where are the people that are in charge of this contest? why are they mysteriously not involved?

The reason it has been taking so long to get these posted is because most people sent me their images as attachments, which means i have to download them to my computer and then re upload them somewhere, and then put the img code into the post. It's not difficult, but when applied to 3 pictures for 13 people each, it takes a while...

I'll have the other entries up and voting instructions by the end of the day.

Unless you have a dog in this race, I suggest you zip it. I have a job, 2 kids, had a CT scan, blood work done, posted SEVERAL threads and replied to emails and posts and I still have a little extra time. So unless his sickness has left him without the use of both limbs, then there is no excuse for this! When you are running a contest, you better make sure your do it right.

Oh PLEASE - dont cover for him - if he didnt have the time because of his job, then he should never have started this contest. Insulting others because HE isnt living up to his own promises is just stupid.

And just to add - if its just a matter of "been too busy" then theres nothing stoping him from taking 5 seconds to come here and say that. UNless he's in the hospital or something equally dramatic theres no excuse.

I'm defending him because it's only been 5 days, he said he had a slow internet connection, and he had just gotten back from being sick in a place with not internet, etc and was busy with work related things. Which were probably things he need to catch up on, I could understand if people weren't suggesting after 5 days that everyone should put their own reactors up, remember, originally almost over 50 people signed up, and he has to go through and make sure that everyone used dollar store parts and stayed in the rules since their are entries, like #1 and #2 that don't look like dollar store parts in the least bit.

Oh, and to add to you adding, what if the thing he got sick with came back and he had to go to the hospital or something, I think there is a very real possibility of that being the case, last time I thought he was sick or hurt and I was right, so I'm a little more worried now.

If by dog you mean reactor, no I didn't, but I was going to originally if you remember correctly.
Glad you managed to find time to yourself with all the things you do (Not being Sarcastic) And I am really happy that your blood work and CT scan went okay, but I still think you should cut the man some slack.

As for running my own contest, I was actually considering it, but I have to get something to offer first, then I will, and when I do try to run my own contest, with admin approval, I will look forward to your input on how well I ran it and if it was up to your standards, and I do not mean any of this in a Sarcastic way in the least bit. The minute I start it, you have my word that if you don't find it in a day, I will send you a message with a link to it the very next day.

Well actually it's been 10 days since the contest ended and 5 days since he said he was going to post the remaining entries! I wonder what he would have done if all 40+ entries were actually submitted?!!!

The difference bewteen you and I PrinceNEO is that I have been here long enough to recognize when someone has dropped the ball on something and I can call them out on it. And DC has done just that. It's really valiant of you to try and stick up for him but HE is a capable member that should own up to his responsibilites!

ALSO, I am donating MY IronMan paper props as a prize SO I have even MORE invested in this contest running smoothly. Even if I was to win, I would let someone else take my prize.

Ok, Ok. Ok. lets just com down everyone. (I saying this with no authority, but just the hopes of keeping the peace. )

I'm really sorry, that I haven't done any more this, but since I was just feeling in for Darth before, and it is his contest, I didn't feel that I had the right to take it over. Plus, to be honest I didn't have any idea of who to truly fix this, for you folks. (I'm not the one that made this in to such a mess. I'm not saying Darth might not have a good reason for all of this, I'm just saying it has got out of hand, and needs some help.)

I have now power, or authority here, to end this thread, and start a new one. Like the rest of you, all I can do, is ask the Mods. However, like some of you I do think that if there is any way to save this, it would be to TAKE THIS THREAD DOWN, A.S.A.P.!

Step 2 would be for the entries to be resubmitted to an alternate poster/member. I know that's a pain but I think it is the only way to make sure that the person posting them has complete control over what gets posted, where, when, and how. I would be happy to be the person to organize the new thread, and receive those entries. However, I am very busy right now, and I am on dial up. That means, I'm not going to b e setting at my computer all day, downloading them, and then sending emidiot replays to ever post saying "OO, OO, did you get mine, let me know RIGHT NOW" I'm sorry, not to be rood, but I have a life. So, if I do it, I will download them at night, and reply when I can to your e-mails, and when I get them all, I would be able to post the new thread, with rules, orderly pics, and ANONYMOUS, of cours. (that is of course with the Mods permission.)

However, since this is so fare behind, and many of you are so tired of how this is going, I'm sure some of you wont be happy at all with the pace I can provide right now. (do to other obligations, and dial up.) So, as I said, if you want it, and the Mods are ok with it, I would be happy to do it, but If you, and the mods can find another responsible person, with the free time, and a hi speed connection, then I would be fine with you going with them.

Like I said, I have now power here, I'm just a seat wormer for Darth, but if he really isn't going to step up on this, then I am simply offering my services to you all (and the Mods) and if I'm not the man, the I suggest they find someone with the time, and equipment to do so. (I of course would be willing to help, as much, or as little as that person might want, if they wanted to take over receiving the pic, and uploading them, etc.

Yes, this is just a contest, but it was supposed to be fun, and it has lost that goal for a lot of the people in it. and I hate to see this end with a fizzle, after all these folks hard work. I don't want any of you folk to get put off of the idea of contests. This is not how most of them go.

None, of this is ment as a slam against Darth, he may have his reasons for all of this, and I am not going to bash the guy, I'm just saying it's time for this to move in a new direction.

This post is as much for the mods, as all of you. Talk amongst yourselves, and lets see what constrictive solutions we can come up with. let's not let this contest die, but lets not bash Darth, insted. lets try to fix this. (if we can..... some how.)

Well, I for one with a yet unpublished entry, am for Jason1976 taking this over--again. A brave man you are to step up to the plate this second time and after things have gone so far south. But only on the condition it be given him fully, totally, and forever his if anyone has the authority to do such. No handing it back to DarthCalibar if he should make a return.

Whatever reason/s have kept Darth from finishing this, shouldn't mean the rest of us have to hang here in limbo. This has gone on way too long and been so frustrating and I think the entrants have been plenty patient! I only entered for the fun of it, certainly not in it to win it. But there are some serious builds & builders in this, and it's a shame they're not getting the respect they deserve.

I've already sent my entry pics to Jason as I'll be out of town for a couple of days. Maybe this will all be over with when I get back---maybe I'll find it was all just a bad dream.......

2. As I said, I did have something to do with the contest originally.
3. I'm not a newb as you put it, I've been on the 405th for a few years and around a few other places.
Here is an idea, wanna not get ridiculed? Try acting your age for 1, 2, try not suggesting dumb ideas that add to the negative comment you already posted, why not try to come up with an idea with a mod if you are so high and mighty, hmm?
I know, why don't you not suggest that everyone has a free for all with posting pictures of their own reactors, you know as well as I do that it will only make matters worse and lead to even further disorganization.

Anyway, I've gotten my point out and after you get yours out lets stop this since I liked you in the first place and quite frankly still do, In fact, aside from your sudden post to tell everyone to put up their reactors in what would have probably been chaotic display of flash posting, and calling me a newb (Which I find pretty rude since I never insulted you or anyone else in with any seriousness intended) I considered you a smart and funny guy.

(And on the off chance that you were kidding about the newb thing, then simply let me know and forget everything I said considering it in the above 'anyway' section)
(One more thing, I'm 17 and think using Newb is pretty stupid, so I really think if you are above the age of 12-13 and have an intellect past that age as well, you should avoid the word at all costs, kinda like the plague, I know I do.)
