Hi everyone, I'm new here but have been looking around for a while. I know a few people customised their 9th/10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver toys to make them more screen accurate. I would like to do the same with the 11th Doctor's one. I have the plastic toy and to be honest I think it is pretty accurate scale wise. But there are a few problems:
- The button on the side does not activate lights or sounds when the screwdriver is extended.
- The end cap which hides the button on the bottom is quite loose so it will often fall open.
- The button on the side releases the top half into the open look but it does this in one movement without offering an open claws but not extended position.
I have plenty of experience with model making and painting and that sort of thing, but I have never played around with the electrics side of things before, or for that matter, opening up a toy like this without creating a lot of damage that will need to be repaired afterwards. So any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated.
The main things I would like to change on it are to have a third position so it goes from closed to open and extended, or from closed to open but not extended. I would also like to change it so the side button can be used to activate the light and sound in any of these positions. As far as I'm concerned I'm happy to lose the end button altogether.
