Limited Run DL44 TFA Blaster Kit

I'll be replacing the plastic plate with a 1/16th aluminum piece that I will waterjet cut. My question is when mounting the scope mount, I drill and tap the holes for the threaded rod. Then the two aluminum discs go onto the rods. However because of the difference in the heights between the mag well and the rear of the gun the aluminum bar sits at an angle. Do I shim it till it sits level?

i just used a washer to level it.

thanks for the help Hairball and Kokanee. I will have to decide weather to add washers to the existing one or mill one of the existing ones down.

I still have more work to do, but it is slowly coming together. This is such a great piece to have in my collection already.

No one wants to show the other side, lol

The scope mount is not attached yet on mine. SO this is the only way to show it (with the scope delicately balanced to get the shot). For the record, I have not done anything to the other side yet, since I am holding out hope for a more elegant solution.

Has anyone ran into a problem with reassembly with the trigger? It's almost like the top is stopped by the trigger assembly and won't let it slide on all the way

you have to slide it on with the lower receiver the right way up or the silver bit connected to the tigger flops up and stops the top receiver sliding on

dcmachinst. can you please give me the specs for the two little mush head screws that hold the bull barrel in place as i appear to have lost one!

Every time I try to slide on the top it catches that silver piece and folds it forward thus block any more progress on sliding. Looking at it, it looks like there is absolutely no space for the silver piece to slide into or get out of the way. I've watched several videos and still haven't found a solution

update:

Oh man, I had the silver piece in backwards the entire time! Man, I'm losing it.

heres my effort. its not perfect but i love it.
the kit was great fun. As is the current trend the plate side is not shown. ;) i have left it with the dummy switch as i could not find a neat way of doing it. with the switch removed and the post glued in place there are still locating holes visible in the receiver and as i have stripped and blued the gun rather that painting filling could end up looking worse.

Has anyone actually found a source photo that shows the hero prop had the switch removed? In all the movie stills I've looked at of that side, it seems to show Ford's finger resting on something which looks like the switch...

If im not totally misstaken the consensus is going with the launchbay props snd those pictures published online supposedly of the hero props , whitch show a c96 style box has been added on the left side , they ate all posted in the early pages of this thread .

Am I really going to be the first to post the other side? Just got done the CAD model from the launch bay prop. I've been working on projects for other people but I'm about to cut my left side. It's the first piece I'm working on.

Everyone has done an awesome job on what they posted!

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

This is a CU of the prop held by FORD in posters that match the screen used blaster.

Really curious why and how they made the c96 relief side in the HFC body. The rear views of the Launch Bay blaster don't show much if any extra thickness.
It would be interesting to find out if the machined the sides, which would not be difficult for them, or added a side plate.

The plate Dave supplied would work great IF the prop was painted as the real one seems to be... no-one wants to paint them! :(:lol

well there you go! awesome

I painted mine, because that is how the hero prop was done.... I don't get this whole "bluing" craze...

A member on another thread used the term "idealized weapon" when referring to finishing a prop blaster. Several of us are after a realistic finish to our props and not so much what exactly the prop masters made. I want my DL44 to look more like a real steel than a toy.
