Limited Run DL44 TFA Blaster Kit

Heyho
So I'm in Canada. Has anyone here from up north found a site to get the hfc m172? I have a kwc m172 and the dec anh kit but haven't had much luck with them working. The dimensions are obviously all wrong.

Anyone know if I could use my kwc? I'm not looking for super accuracy, just any old DL44 would be great.

Why not get a Denix? Dave makes a modified version on his site all ready to build with the kit...

The only real issue using the KWC would be the Grill anyway. The other parts should be fine.

The sleeve barrel would just need to be epoxied in place. The paste type would allow more time to get it straight and set in place. Fills voids very well.

If you have the latest kits, the grill is cast metal. You could file away the inner surface a bit to open it up enough to fit the KWC mag well which is wider.

Unless it's ferrous you either need to cold blue, paint, or maybe do some epoxy treatment like GunKote. I've got an experiment planned with GunKote, so I'll probably do a post with the results.

The cold blue does work well on the Zamac body of the Denix and MGC's.

Has anyone tried cold blue on the HFC yet?

Curious to see what your GunKote does...Looking forward to your posts!

Oh I wish I could kpax. Our replica laws are Moronic. You can get any number of the Airsoft m172's from kwc, gletcher etc but a denix is considered a replica and is illegal and will most likely be seized. . Quite ridiculous. Mind you I have had denix pistols in the past and they are terrible quality. I'm sure quite a few denix owners have had their hammers snap in two. The kwc is a beutiful piece. Nice and solid.

When speaking of the grill, do you mean my anh kit? The magazine on my kwc I is thinner at the front and wider at the back. Trapezoidal. The dec anh grill won't fit at all and to file it would take too much off the back of the grill.

Do the kwc and hfc m172's have the same dimensions as far as you know or do you know a member whose brain I could pick regarding said dimensions?

I found an hfc on Amazon.ca but alas it is out of stock and it sez it might not be restocked.

It's very frustrating to be a Star Wars blaster fan in Canada.

Yeah I'm really interested to see how it turns out too. I've been playing around on a Denix while my MGCs get their chrome stripped. I've gotten the Al Black to work OK with a lot of surface prep and many many many different passes. It'd be great if the Gun Kote worked. I picked out the "cold blue steel" color to try. We shall see!

Pics of my "DEC" blasters. I have built 7 of these kits and just received 2 more! Quality is remarkable. I just pre ordered a TFA kit. Check out my site, PKaneProps.com for more pics. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Regular cold blue works great on the Denix and MGCs. Also any patina that will work on zink.

GunKote is an epoxy spray and may be "thicker" than you want and harder to weather. Simple semigloss black spray with a urethane or lacquer clearcoat would work just as well. GunKote is tougher but may be harder to get the color and effects you want.

Jeech. Almost as bad as here in NY ! ; )

The HFC and KWC are likely very close to the same dimensions. Maybe someone here has both and can test the mag interchangeability?

Yes, The Grill from the ANH kit has the same trapezoidal shape inside but narrower. It may not take too much to file and make it fit. The actual grill on the ANH HERO is less round due to the way it was cut to fit. If you notice the grill in my HERO above, the side view is less than "round" You could make it work like this.

Place the mag bottom against the bottom of the grill and scribe a line. It may just make it.

The Denix is not the best overall quality but can be made into a very nice prop with some extra work.

Wow...nice work. You been busy !

Yeah, I also have a test to do with a ferric chloride solution dip. It's supposed to darken zinc. 200g FeCl3 : 1L water for around 20min. Whole thing could just dissolve though so we'll see... I just know there has to be a simple solution, because obviously MGC didn't have people swabbing and buffing 20 times for each gun that came off the line.

Really I'm just curious about all the options out there. :)

Same size as the original prop. Just wondering if this kit will work with the cm712 airsoft Mauser
