Limited Run DL44 TFA Blaster Kit

What is the "mystery plug"? I see that the product page is up on your site, should we be ordering now or wait? Will there be a schematic or something showing the parts included before ordering?

The picture on the TFA page is the ANH kit, that is just a reference to show what the kit will look like,
The items in the TFA kit are listed on that product page,
I will include a sheet of laser cut out plastic to cover the selector switch side to create the rectangle cutout effect,
The mystery plug is the part that sticks out on the left side by the grill, that was the "mystery disk" on the ANH version,

THE PRE-SALE IS UP!!! I WILL BE SENDING OUT AN EMAIL NEWSLETTER ALSO
GET 'EM WHILE THEY'RE HOT !!!!!

Is the mystery disk included as well?

I guess the only thing holding me back from ordering now is knowing how accurate it is. Honestly we dont have the best reference yet without the bluray being out, and not being able to see the 3d models or anything kind of leaves it up to trust. I just dont want be getting this kit and then find out come April that there is stuff we couldnt see before and now there's a "more accurate" kit.

i think anyone seeing or having an ANH Kit from DEC can attest to the quality and accuracy of the parts.
have a look at this run for example.

Dave posted the ANH parts pic. to show an example of the finished parts better than any 3d could.

for the TFA, the parts are sized according to the HFC body and reference material.

Deadbolt is doing 3d work to get the sizing and details as close as possible. Just as a note, his "best guess" sizing for the Grill and Antenna, before the actual parts were found, was within a few tenths of millimeters.! " It'll be plenty accurate for you old man"... ( just my Han Solo reference) ;)

I visited Dave today to go over the parts and details. All the visible details will be there down to the correct screws. I'll post a few images of the details later so everyone can check if we missed anything.

I have no doubt it will be a thing of beauty.

Many great builds came out of the DEC ANH parts....I thought I'd show a few pics and link to my ANH build to show what can be done with these parts.

The TFA will make a great build kit too.

As for finishing, The Han poster detail looks like a fairly simple black semigloss spray paint rather than bluing. It is really peeling badly in those images.

The Disney shots look different. Depends on the look you personally want I guess.

If the HFC is the same alloy as the MGC and Denix, the bluing works well. The Al black works well if applied correctly.

Clean, Clean, Clean the aluminium. De-grease and wear gloves.

I used a soft wire brush and 0000 steel wool and scour pads to apply the Al black to warm metal parts. A mask and glasses are recommended too. Follow safety directions.

You basically "scrub" the compound into the warm metal to break the oxidation layer. After the first coat is rinsed, you can re-apply. Several coats may be needed and then an overcoat of wax or clear lacquer to protect.

I think most movies had a couple of slightly different ones for hero shots and filming shots,
I am sure we can get it very close

and it looks like they used the Master Replicas version as the base for the screen one and that was slightly off from the ANH version to begin with.

Is there a way to get an accurate denix for use as a Greedo Killer? Without the mystery disc machining? Trying to figure out which to build 1st. I happen to have most of the real parts for the GK on hand. Thinking about ordering your ANH version though.

Heyho
So I'm in Canada. Has anyone here from up north found a site to get the hfc m172? I have a kwc m172 and the dec anh kit but haven't had much luck with them working. The dimensions are obviously all wrong.

Anyone know if I could use my kwc? I'm not looking for super accuracy, just any old DL44 would be great.

Does anyone on here get their parts blued or is there another way to get the black color?

Unless it's ferrous you either need to cold blue, paint, or maybe do some epoxy treatment like GunKote. I've got an experiment planned with GunKote, so I'll probably do a post with the results.
