Limited Run DL44 ANH Version Blaster Kit

ANH kits without grips will start shipping this week,
there were some problems with the mold for the TFA grill and knob so I have to make them over, the TFA kits will start shipping by May 6
orders with grips will be then also, I know it has been a long wait and I appreciate your patience, but at least I am on the estimated schedule,
you will need inch and metric allen (hex) wrench sets, the studs on the TFA are 10-32 thread, the ANH is 1/4-20 thread,

Just read your newsletter. My vote is for the ESB kit as your next project. I've got an accurized denix already set aside ;-)

Super excited to get this, thanks for the newsletter update. My vote would be for the ANH raider face wrap

My parts arrived today! They look amazing, really simple to test fit.

Thanks for the awesome work and project management!

I have been a hovering RPF member for a bit, but haven't had a need to engage a forum till now.

Built the DEC Droid Caller a couple months ago(very impressed)...now onto the DEC ANH DL44 2016 conversion kit(excellent customer service on both orders)....

Loving the kit so far, great craftsmanship but still needs hands on building and finishing from the end user.

I have two sets of bluing kits coming, one for the Mauser replica(steel) and one for the aluminum parts of the DEC kit.

Any input on how the pewter parts will react to either the steel or aluminum bluing? I know I could easily paint them(pewter parts), but I am looking for a consistent, authentic, feel for the completed piece.

This is exactly how I got started, the Droid Caller kit. That thing is built like a tank, I love it. Dave (DEC) is huge asset to this community, he has super friendly and helpful. He works 7 days a week to get this kits out fast and always delivers on time. Unfortunately I have yet to finish it since I'm a complete rookie and learning to leverage a laser cutter for the logo. Anyway, what kind of Mauser Replica are you using? If its a Denix they're made Zamak, and I think the Aluminum Black works better. For finishing ScottJua is a wizard and shows lots of tips for getting screen accurate results. He has some tips for the brass too. I think the pewter won't really take the aluminum black. (I could be wrong). There's a company called Jax or Ajax that sells "Pewter Black".

I think a lot of people end up painting it. Congrats on the builds, can't wait to see them! (just clicked the link, you did a great job on the bull barrel!)

Thanks Tomm!!!

It is the Denix and it is almost completely sanded , so I guess I will have to try out the aluminum blue on the replica. (That said though, it is only a Denix :) ) I will go check out Scott's finishing techniques and see what I can dig up..

I plan on doing some weathering, so painting the pewter parts is still a fall back. I will do a little googling on the pewter blackening mentioned.

Dave at DEC was great on both orders!!! All questions or concerns were addressed the same day (without any contempt what-so-ever).

Thanks again for the guidance! More pics to come!

My Denix is on backorder too. :-(

Would be interested in what everyone will do for the scope and grill parts for blueing or painting.

My Denix is on backorder too - not too big a deal for me as I won't be able to start this project for roughly a month or so. I'm super stoked just to get the other parts, know that I will soon have a proper Han Solo blaster replica!!

For ANH I would use Aluminum Black (Casey Birchwood) for the grill you can paint or use Pewter Black.

It's going to take a few coats to get the s open right, but you can make it look like blued steel. Scottjua has an awesome video on it

I believe I have the Casey Birchwood for aluminum. I didn't know what to use for pewter, but at least I know there is something out there. Would like to see the video, any help is great help to see how you guys are pulling this off.
