DL-44 ESB Blaster Discussion - Greeblies POST 208

Here you get a good look at the height on the straight part of the knurled mount knob.

Sorry, this is the shot I'm talking about. Good shot of the profile of that knob.

My guess is that it probably moved around on its own due to the single point of attachment. Mine used to do the same thing when I simply used the knob to tighten it in place. After slinging it around and pulling in and out of holster. I finally used an epoxy to fix the problem.

Not exactly, it pokes through a little bit on Luke's, but doesn't reach all the way to the end of the flash hider.

I think Han's barrel is a touch shorter, almost lining up with the front face at the bore inside the hider.

Or maybe I'm mistaken and Han's is the same as Luke's.

ok got my stuff:

It looks to me like a lot more doesn't line up on Mark's prop, maybe because, again, there's like one point of contact. It looks like the mount tips towards the receiver and maybe even towards the magazine portion as well, but the screw doesn't tilt (?)(in this shot the blaster is tilted up and the first bolt is in darkness) and it even looks like the rear bolt is crooked. Maybe I'm seeing things.

Yeah, the whole body of the magazine is tapered, it gets thinner as it reaches the front.

Mind. Blown. does it also get skinnier towards the top? I'm seeing two degrees and that explains why it doesn't point straight. Thanks!

Original parts have arrived, these are from the Visible V8 Model Motor. Operating Engine Model NIB 1977,
its just one "horseshoe" in the kit, so they used two kits

Or cast them.

Those guys were good at casting up parts that they used for kit bashing, just look at the studio scale models

Dave any thoughts on my post about bracket dimensions? The 1.25" dimension being larger???

Looking at all three of my real Muasers, my Denixes, and my MGCs Boba's measurements are pretty much spot on.

I am using the real Mausers as a base for all my comparisons since the hero blasters were real. The Hoth, I'm letting everyone else worry about. I like the Luke so that's my focus.

Anyway, the Denix is larger than the MGC and real Mauser.

From base of mag well plate to lowest edge on upper receiver we get this:

Mauser: 2.222"

MGC: 2.285"

Denix: 2.337"

So to me boba's measurements work on a real Mauser. The 1.25" width of the base section MIGHT be a tad small... needing to be a little wider, especially for the Han Bespin, as they look slightly different, otherwise it's good. Say 1.35"?...

the rest checks out on real Mauser.

hoping more reference gets here soon

Alex, looking at your image up close I see:

Your top edge is too high up on the lower receiver... It shouldn't pass the bevel in the mag well as much, and also your plate goes too far down. Weirdly the protrusion on the mag well is exactly the same on real mauser vs denix (MGC is larger slightly), but on the denix it's more pronounced. 1.75" would put it about perfect when I measure. Since the denix is larger it would sit a tiny bit lower, but still be positioned about right.

I have never had anyone complain about the dimensions / proportions of my Bespin Blaster.

There is only a .115 difference in the mag plates which is less then 1/8"

Your wanting to make the area of my scope bracket in question, .100 larger which is a substantial change. in the proportions of the scope bracket.

Making that wider, changes the look of the back angled leg unless you extend the bracket.

If you extend the bracket the scope will no look right on it.

If you make it wider the scope bracket nut may look too small so then you have to scale it up.

That is just a few of the issues that have to be addressed by making the lower part of the scope bracket wider

.

Saw that on FB too. I'm pretty sure it must have been the only prop they had on location.

The shots of the trio in the hot base with the live fires was at the studio... not location, as they couldn't import real firearms on location...hence the MGC
