It is one of two steel sockets I put inside the hilt. Goal was to add weight and step down the opening of the emitter.
And yes, I'm aware it's not totally accurate, haha, It does look great in person though.

That's one hellaciously wicked-looking prop saber, friend....you are quite talented.

I don't remember the size of the socket off the top of my head. I tested a couple until I found one that fit snug in the emitter gasket.

Here's a quick breakdown on the painting process:
- Light sand sand and auto primer. Light sand again
- Base coast of dark metallic gray enamel (rattle can)
- Airbrushed silver and bronze shading with acrylics. This created some variation so it wasn't all just gray.
- Hand brushed some dark gray and gloss black acrylics into the crevices to add some dimension
- Airbrushed the heat damage on the side emitters in metallic blue/purple, bronze, and silver
- Added some rust texture to parts of the hilt, then painted over those areas with a partial coat of flat black
- Then, I went back in and brushed silver scratches over worn areas
- Airbrushed several areas in gloss clear coat. I masked off different sections and sprayed selectively. This way, the sheen varies slightly as you move saber.
- Finally, I sealed it with a thin layer of matte clear coat to make it all look unified.
how do I open this up like that are there screw hole i unscrew and it come out in two halves easily or do I have to unglue the seam ?

do I just apply heat ? and bend the heck out of the red blades ? and does the black cover part comes out with it ?

The things you want to heat up the most are the red blades themselves. Heat them up until they become malleable. The emitters are separate pieces that are held on mostly by friction. You may want to try pulling the emitters (covers) off first by twisting and pulling after you've applied some heat. Then it'll look like the picture I posted.

Tossed the inner "ring" that snapped off with side exhaust. Plan on using a small PVC piece or even a socket to hold the two back together.
Have we seen a screen accurate representation of what the inside of the main emitter looks like? I'm going with the socket idea for now like dmpsk8, it does add a nice weight to it. I'm also filling the batter comparment (after dremmeled) with fender washers to add even more weight.

What do you got going on in the side vents there? Doesn't look like a socket like the top emitter.
I bought 2 more sockets for mine for the side emitters, so the teeth match in design. Adds more weight too.

I just made some simple styrene ribs for the side emitters. Nothing fancy there.
I took apart mine yesterday, heres some photos if they help anyone understand further. Prying off the top with a butterknife worked as others have mentioned. A note for the side vent removal, a hairdryer works, mine had some glue on the underside where the "groove" is, that was the hardest part to get moving. Hopefully the photos explain it well enough. I cut a slit on one side and popped off the blades themselves,

How exactly did you took apart the emitter and exhaust blades?

Im scared to break it in the process of disassembling it...
The top emitter I took a butter knife and pried it off, it was just connected with a small amount of glue and some tabs, I made sure to go around and lift it up evenly. For the side emitters I used my wifes hair dryer, on high, and heated the emitter up for maybe a minute, then tried to pull it off. The "groove" i mentioned in my photos seems to be whats holding it on the most, mine had some glue and it was a really tight fit. Heating up the emitter weakened the glue and the blade actually became soft enough for some movement to happen. Hope this helps.
