Disney + | She-Hulk

Absolutely spot on, especially the point about the writers projecting their own biases onto the characters. This could be applied to so many modern movies and shows. Beyond that, there appears to be a general lack of technique in writing these days. That's not to say there aren't any well-written stories being made but, overall, it seems as though basic writing proficiency has gotten worse.

Well, finally saw first two episodes.

Once Stan Lee was gone, I knew this woke crap would start.

So, catcalled, might get murdered, vs superhero saved the Earth from an invasion, Gladiator on another planet, the guy who snapped half of the universe back into existence.

TOTALLY EQUAL, Right?

Not like she is going to glean anything from Bruce due to his years of experience.

Nope, no sir-reee

***Please note the sarcasm***

In Secret Wars, didn't the Hulk hold up an entire mountain up because of his anger? Can't wait to see the strength challenge where she can do the same without the anger fuel.

QUEUE the annoying, "Anything YOU can do I can do Better!"

Some traits that are attributed predominantly to males are labelled "toxic," but when a woman exhibits them, it is celebrated. She'll control it, she'll finesse it, and if you point out the obvious, well, um, THREATENED, yeah, you must feel threatened. That's the ticket. *facepalm*

"Didja see how she went after him? You go GRRL! MRROOOW!!"

Vs

"He just needs to calm down. Oh! How Typical"

Ultimately, it is a way to disarm the other side from any discussion. Like calling for a debate, but one side isn't allowed to speak, they can only use interpretive, non-aggressive dance to make their point which is open to ridicule and laugh-tracks.

Lazy writers pushing woke crap. And instead of a BIG SIGN that prompts the audience, "she's right, AGAIN," they have the support cast tell the audience or painfully over-act the judgement.

Oh wait, but she's an attorney, she has six-figure loan debt, she is just like *US*, that has got to be several orders of magnitude greater than fighting to SAVE THE UNIVERSE.

How much more epic stressors will she just...y'know, shrug off?

Yeah, it is just a tv show about a quirky comic book,

...but it isn't, because the comic character's popularity, which attracted the *fans*, is being used as a podium to push a broken-record message that has nothing to do with the comic...AGAIN

Second episode was also a lot of fun, but I find the format a little aggravating, insomuch as it feels like things have just gotten going when the episode ended. I needed another ten minutes. Anyhow, it's lighter MCU fare, and I'm enjoying it.

I’m actually surprised that there hasn’t been an outrage because her boobs get bigger when she becomes the Hulk! I thought for sure that would be something that would be vehemently complain about.
Believe me, I considered this, and to ensure that I gave the matter the necessary consideration I embarked upon an extensive review process involving many freeze frames.

For now, I am satisfied that the sizing is appropriate, but let it be known that I reserve the right to revisit this decision, and embark upon further detailed study as appropriate.

People sure like to throw the word “woke” around

Y’all watch for that like other uptight people look for jokes in standup to get upset about. Find something and then focus on it, make or share videos on it… crazy.

I seriously went into this expecting it to be this super insulting thing, jeez. It barley registered. It was literally two cousins arguing.

Like people after the trailer getting upset she threw a rock further than Hulk… and then in the show, the next shot, he threw one into the atmosphere.

If the show is insulting, just stop watching. There’s certainly no shortage of content out there.

Getting upset that she hulk is aimed to women is like getting upset a kid show is aimed at kids.

It’s Ally Mcbeal… with less Robert Downey Junior, ironically… and much like Ally - it’s not for me, so I’ll prob just watch casually when bored just to be in the know… or not - couldn’t get through “what if?”…

I enjoy that the writing in the show lacks maturity and nuance and is told on a level that a child could understand and that an adult finds frustratingly empty.

Speaking for me, personally, I am so thankful that this is not one of those shows in which I am challenged to exercise my brain and actually “think” about things too much. When I watch The She-Hulk, I shut my brain off and acquire the vacant stare and amused grin that is comparable to a simple man being offered the pleasures of a plain vanilla ice cream cone.

Is The She-Hulk mediocre, overly simplistic, destined to age very badly, somewhat incompetent in its presentation, producing humor that lands with a thud, and seemingly representative of the overall dumbing-down of our entertainment? Maybe. My response: “More, please”.

To anyone who doesn’t enjoy this show, I say, lower your expectations of what you expect from modern Disney-produced entertainment and you too will discover the peace and contentment of embracing the mediocre.

Lol

This is me and Entourage, and possibly the greatest terrible movie ever made, Entourage the Movie

I guess not having read the comics, I was unprepared for the series.
Nah, I mean if you're sick of the fourth wall breaks, that's fair. It is a bit overplayed at this point. I don't know if they're going to do all the zany stuff I mentioned too. I would hope so as that's what made her enjoyable. So far, I think the writing isn't hitting the mark.

Personally, I don't really care for the fourth wall breaking in the show, but I understand why it is there. I have every issue of the John Byrne run of the comics and they are a fun read. So, I get it. I'm sure there would have been a major uprising of She Hulk fans if it wasn't there. The way it was done in the comic was fine and she only did it in her own book. When she was in Fantastic Four or Avengers or other books it never happened, and as long as they keep it that way, I suppose I can deal with it.

But, it is a novelty that grows thin very quick. I just don't think it really adds anything to the show, just seems to be there for the gimmick factor. And to be honest, as far as the show goes, she has only done it, what, three times so far? A total of possibly 30 seconds, maybe? If this was truly like the original comic, it would be happening ever other scene and be waaaaaay more corny than what they are doing in the show. Not only that, the show would be a total T-n-A fest, because it was obvious John Byrne was getting out some of his sexual fantasies with that run of the book. It was quite a titillating comic for it's time......hey, give me more of that! :p

Just because something was done in the source material doesn't mean it was a good idea or that it works within the context of the new medium or that its inclusion will make the new content better. Also viewers shouldn't have to be familiar with source material to enjoy the new content.

I guess I'm in the camp of being kind of sick of content that works best when your brain is off. I feel like this series is going to get lost in the mass of content that after its over is very quickly forgotten. Giving it one more episode to do something memorable.

Naw, it isn't you, it is the wokeness of the series.
I have followed the character since 1979, followed the Sensational She-Hulk, her quirkiness is being perverted.

Once the "I can do it infinitely better than you," checkbox got clicked, people who liked it will defend it.

Just give it a moments thought, and an objective mind will realize how utterly vacuous her comment was.

Telling someone who saved the universe, YOU can do it better because you have been catcalled isn't even laughable, it should make you feel pity
for that person.

Gladiator on another planet vs fending off six-figure student loan debt...It should leave you snarfing up your craft beer or a firm, slapping facepalm.

Just look at this thread, some claim what she said was sooo poignant, until put into perspective that she is talking to someone who saved HALF THE UNIVERSE, and then it becomes "light." There is no valid argument against such a self-absorbed statement, just a wandering baseline of conflicting arguments searching for traction.

Trying to sell something

I remember reading people talk about the Cloak and Dagger series, claiming the comics were all about social justice, eventually, they would admit they never cracked a comic from the series.

I really hope the series improves.

Ignoring that he never did such a thing as far as I can tell, nor did she assert such a thing.
Where did she say she could save the "universe" better than Bruce?

Marvel is definitely running headlong toward a saturation point where a fan can pick and choose which shows and movies they feel like they want to follow. Not every show needs to work for everyone anymore than every comic needs to work for every reader. It's fine.
