Disney buying Lucasfilm (new Star Wars movies on tap)

there's 23 pages here, so this might have been asked already -but, would this mean Disney now owns stuff like his warehouses of props as seen on the BluRay?

I just hope they don't come after communities that thrive on props and costumes. That would suck royally!

My fear, as a fan-film-maker, is that Disney will begin pressing YouTube to remove fan films that have Star Wars characters, music or costumes. George Lucas encouraged and supported fan films, since we give him lots of free publicity and advertising and keep interest in the franchise alive between theatrical films. But Disney is run by accountants and lawyers, and they are famous for suing the crap out of everyone everywhere who uses their characters for anything, including charity events.

I have a bad feeling about this . . .

No... the saga is about the droids... 3PO and R2. Notice in Episode 1 he made sure they were "introduced" to each other?

No, the saga is about...er...whatever he says it's about whenever he says it. Which is not necessarily consistent.

I would not worry about star wars cosplay with Disney. But if you are planning a fan film, I'd put a hold on it for now, or just roll those resources into something original.

I suppose that it all depends on the amount of separation between Lucasfilms and Disney, from what it sounds like to me LF will remain a separate part of the overall Disney family. Remember, it's a buyout and not a merger so LF is still in charge of its own day to day operations, not Disney. The likely scenario will be that Disney will simply let Kathleen Kennedy run LF as it has been running and let her make all the calls that concern LF and honor all standing agreements.

That would indeed be the best-case scenario.

The Rat is not as forgiving as the Emperor.

Except for the archival OT. That they need to just flat-out overrule 'em on, and get that sucker produced.

i cant't wait for a new star wars movie. Figuring that old Georgie ruined the last 3 movies. Disney will do it justice and bring forth a new Star wars park among other things. Star wars & Disney have the most passionate fan bases out there..well minus Elvis & the beetles. So they know not to screw it up.

Finally!!!!! George I love ya but the prequels and Indy 5 almost ruined my childhood! You almost singlehandedly made Star Wars the laughing stock of sic fi and made Indy look like a old haggard man! People wanted to be Han Solo and Luke sky walker, people went into archeology because of Indy! Disney WILL pump out movie after movie and Indy will be back in some incarnation, and they will be good! Great buy Disney, don't screw it up!

The Archives fall under the Lucasfilm umbrella, so yes, Disney does now own them as well.

Sorry, but that's not true.

George is keeping all the real estate, as well as the costumes and props, so no need to worry.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The prequels should have been set DURING the Clone Wars, not AROUND them. We see the first battle in AOTC and the last battle in ROTS. The cartoon can only go on so long. Plus there is only so much you can do with it given that it has to meet up with ROTS.

I think people are WAY too harsh about Harrison, Carrie, and Mark aging. That's life people! We are all going to get old and wrinkled. Just because Hollywood is completely obsessed with youth and wealth doesn't mean that we as a society have to buy into that lie. People age, and there is NOTHING wrong with people aging with dignity.

Story wise, can anyone imagine Luke Skywalker uttering the word Midichlorians? I think it would be hilarious. Yes kids. This is an actual possibility.

They can do whatever they want with the story. As long as Disney doesn't crap on the fans with regards to them enforcing intellectual property rights (and stifle costuming and prop communities) then they can do whatever they like with the franchise as far as I'm concerned.
