Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Finally opened my 2nd one for inspection. A saucer plug was missing, not one with registration on it. I emailed Jennifer as that was my last CS contact hoping for a fast track, maybe they can send just the plug and I I won't have to send back the whole saucer over just a plug. All lights worked, the top of the saucer had some light scuffing/polish to clear dull coat from shipping vibrations. Not very noticable but it was easily preventable if they would just have wrapped it better in paper. I like the engineering section better than my first, light leak on the spine is not as bad as my first, but still there, and nacelles are on tighter. A plug had popped off the engineering section but I was able to find it. It's clear each one may have it's unique little issues.

Well that was fast, need to ship the entire saucer back for just a missing plug. Oh well, maybe I get a better saucer without scuffs. :)

Yeah exactly this. The scuff/polish marks you mentioned I have a couple of.those on my saucer. Not noticable unless you look at odd angles in the light and probably present on every one of them if people look hard enough.

I have a feeling they are gonna make you return the saucer. Though it would be between for them to just take a plug off return and send it to you...

Edit: Oops I see you just posted that very response....lol

Yeah they were super fast. I was like, damn I just put everything back in the packaging and box. Pain in the butt. LOL I think I won't send them the lower sensor dome battery cover. I'll leave a note I kept it. I don't want to get a saucer back without it.

Do you mean that the hallmark plug doesn't fit in the connector properly, and thus doesn't make contact to complete the circuit?
Correct. The newer lights, specifically LED strings, don't seem to accept the older plugs. And some of the newer ornaments need a special power cord from Hallmark.

Even if they did fit, the LED bulbs don't have enough power to run the ornaments, I've tried it.

I always removed the hook and cords from mine. Put attachments like that on an AMT to charge it up and maybe take it off a base that has a plug in it?

To whoosh around the room

Speaking of which, I read somewhere that the 1/650 on the long box has the saucer moved down on the neck somehow...and the nacelles at the base moved toward each other at a sharper angle.

The only way to achieve that long-box look would be to hollow out the slots of each top third of the secondary hull, slide it down a completed nacelle assembly out of the way on each...insert the pylons into a V shaped bracket...and slide the two cigar hills down over that. Long box ochre nacelle caps on Round2 nacelles...Revell lighting kit...wires inside nacelles through bracket to original long box lower part of secondary hull... electronic box in that encapsulated...fill nacelle stalks and secondary hull with the UV hardener plastic to make one piece.

Aside over... maybe TOMY could recoup sales of just naked molded parts...for welding :)

I cannot bring myself to take that ornament out of the box anymore, for fear it will quit working. And half the light strings won't work with the plugs anymore.
I got the special legacy cord from Hallmark to run my old ornaments. I bought 6 of the Enterprise ornaments when they came out, so I run one at Christmas and store the rest. It's quite amazing to me that the lights gets still work well.

On Hallmark's Website they indicate the cords are no longer available. On EBay crazy prices !

You weren't kidding about Ebay prices! That is nuts! Legacy cords are basically old style light cords without lights.

Hallmark ornaments have always been very expensive, and they should support the customers who have a history of purchasing their products. offering a simple cord.

Wish I had hoarded Legacy cords! I only have 1, not nearly enough to power all my old ornaments.

Same here. Got all of the ornaments but no way to light them up !

I'm no electrician, but for the moment we're still using lights that work with my ornaments, I'll have to save the cords if/when we go full LED.

It's good to hear that Tomy are replacing even relatively minor defects. I'd half expected them to say that small imperfections are natural in any product. Their pre-release communication may have been quite poor, but their post-release efforts have been laudable imo.
So there is a small scuff on the saucer. Do you think they would replace it for something that minor?

They all have various flaws...

Unless it's really bad I wouldn't risk exchanging it for something minor. Seems TOMY is exchanging for any and all reasons no questions asked though.

Got a photo?

Maybe. But scuffs are almost a given with this paint. I bet if anyone inspects the saucer they will find a small scuff. I returned my lower hull because of an actual paint chip and glad I did. My saucer has a couple light scuffs that are only visible under intense light and viewed at odd angles. Don't ever notice it and don't care.

The way I'm seeing some people handle these things I'm not sure the paint is gonna look all that good years from now. Lol
