Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Guys, I'm not sure what is going on here but I have noticed this Ebay seller seems to have an unlimited amount of these for sell. You can see a ton of them in his pics and I looked at his history and he has sold 15 so far. I sent him an email asking him where he got so many.
Oh yeah I've seen these listings. Maybe he bought a bunch at the TOMY outlet store where they had them...this is interesting though. Could be a scam?

I don't think he's scamming. I just want to know where he's getting so many. I suspect he's made some kind of deal with Tomy to sell their excess stock or maybe he works for Tomy and doing this. My question is why does Tomy have so many extra for sell unless these are all cancelled stock from unhappy customers. He's raised his price three times so far since starting to sell them. First it was $1399 then $1699 and now $1899. I assume he's doing this as his stock depletes.

It's simple. The demand is there so he raises the price. As long as people keep buying, no need to go lower...

Interesting. I don't recall was there a max you could buy from Tomy? Cuz very weird.
He's got fair pictures of the production product so this seems like an honest listing.

I don't know how many Enterprises TOMY actually produced. They sold some to Australia as well. Maybe while TOMY had the molds and production running they made extra to sell from the store or other vendors. Originally TOMY wanted 5000 backers, I wonder how many were really made.

Or maybe this guy just backed it a bunch of times. That would make him smarter than me.

There was no limit on how many someone could buy. He probably bought around 10 lots of 3. So $18,000 worth at least. He's basically tripling his cash. Smart move. I don't think Tomy has sold any yet at the outlet store....have they??? I figured they would wait for damaged ones being replaced first....

Must have extremely deep pockets !

Yup, deep pockets and smart.:) This is what he said guys.

"I bought 2 thru the kick-start program.

When people started complaining and talking of cancellations, I called Tomy and bought 20 cancelation orders.

With investments, always buy on bad news. I’ve been in the pop culture market long enough to recognize shortage on something iconic."

Haha. Yeah he took a chance and it paid off with about 20k in profits. I have seen collectors moan about other items quality and have seen items still skyrocket.....here's one I remember from about 10 years ago.

It was I think originally $179 now you can't get it for under $300. I remember a lot of collectors said it was not well done at the time.

If that's the case it's pretty lame that Tomy let one guy buy 20. Guess they just wanted to unload them asap.

Still, it's not like there weren't other folks knocking down their door to get ahold of one either...

Oh, well...

This is true. But to be fair, after all the moaning a lot of us did at the beginning and I am sure a lot of people called and emailed. They probably just wanted to get rid of them quickly and be done with it. I let my cooler head prevail and kept my two and after living with the thing for a week assembled, I really like it and the seams and plug holes are a distant memory. I knew the would not go cheap on the aftermarket. Should have picked a couple more up myself but I didn't know you could call for more.

The folks who wanted one, missed out, and now have to pay through the nose to resellers have me thinking of the lyrics (and meaning) from Badfinger’s “Come & Get It”.
