Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

I will never display the saucer separately from the secondary hull so I'd like to eliminate the saucer support and base completely.

Does anyone know if the saucer-to-secondary hull joint/connection can be strengthened or reinforced with another screw without using epoxy glue?
I really think we need to know where the weak spot is. If it's the solitary screw I think we need some detail on the innards of the vertical pylon, or it could be the narrow part of the pylon where it attaches to the secondary hull. Idk

MARK M3 do you have any contacts with the engineers at Tomy that have details on the weak spots there? Of course they may be so flinchy right now they may not want to share anything without going through a NASA level tech review. Lol

Sorry. I have no contact with any engineers at TOMY. I was recommended to them by Gary Kerr for my engine light effect. I just was asked to help out with the lights and engine effects as well as the overall color and weathering.

Now that we have seen it fully and everyone has bellyached about the flaws. Let's list what was done correctly or really nice.....I will start..

I think they did a great job with the shuttle bay. I didn't think they would have done it so well. Well lit and a couple nice little details in there. I figured they probably skimped out on it after not letting us know about the plug etc and not answering emails.....but they really came through on that detail.....(I feel a bit bad for being angry last week, I guess we all had a right to be but Tomy stepped up in the end so, I'm good with it all now....I edited a few of my posts..(sorry if I offended)

Same here. I'm a week past my anger, several days past irritated. It does and will be discovered to have it's quirks (someone will measure proportions and angles, and it may be me. Lol). Now I'm just anxious to get it. Lol.

I really like the paint and weathering they did on it. It's really hard to capture especially with lighting effects used on the Enterprise filming model. I am happy about that. The devil is in the details hard to capture everything into one piece. I know like many others I rather have a plug in for lighting instead of batteries. At least they made swapping batteries easily accessible.

For anyone that has their model now, what's the height between the base and the saucer? I wonder if one of my old FlightPose stands could reach the saucer from the base and help support the saucer that way.

Based on the photos and videos here are my thoughts. Shuttle bay is fantastic, love the detail. Weathering is very nice and smithsonian accurate, something I like way more than the MR which I always thought looked too clean. Negatives, the obvious plugs and seem lines, the crappy stand and battery’s instead of a plug in. The stand is something I’m sure will be remedied in the aftermarket, the other negatives I mentioned, we are stuck with. However for $600 I don’t think we can complain too much. This is still a fantastic model and second only to the MR. This thing will be well worth it down the road to have in your collection. I expect it will be as valuable as the MRs at some point.

Well almost as valuable as the unsigned MR maybe.....lol....but have you seen how much some of the signed ones go for???? Holy Chalupas....

I’ve seen some of them posted for sale on eBay at rather ambitious prices but I doubt they get what they are listed for. There’s one on there that has been listed for well over a year at 12k. That’s just stupid and I don’t think anyone will pay that much.

A signed one went for almost $1900....has both nimoy and Shatners signatures.
