Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Would it also be feasible to glue the saucer to the neck for extra stability? I really don't care for the saucer separation feature anyway.
I couldn't tell you especially since I don't have mine yet. I definitely won't be doing it though as I want to keep mine stock to preserve its value. What I will do is purchase any improved aftermarket stands that become available.

They had a year to fine tune this. Saucer separation should not have taken precedent over a more functional non-obscuring stand. I could probably live with the screw holes but the one-two punch of the holes on the non-obscured side coupled with that monstrosity of a stand. Its not like anyone was calling out for an Enterprise model featuring saucer separation. I know these guys had good intentions.

In hindsight I bet a bunch of us (self included) wish we were more vocal about the (stupid) saucer separation, ned for a strong, but effective and unobtrusive stand, and keeping the display side of the ship clean.

Too trusting and overconfident were we all (or most of us anyway)...

You say that, but these are things that should have been foundational to the entire project and shouldn't have needed to be highlighted to them. It's as if they were releasing a model of the Beatles' yellow submarine, and all along it kept coming out green and they said "don't worry guys, we'll fix that," and then they just... didn't. Nobody would think at any stage that we ought to say "please don't make it green" because nobody in their right mind would think it was meant to be anything other than yellow.

Half the weight rests on a small and narrow neck, they should have engineered the **** out of that section - especially since they decided to separate it here. But somehow they've intentionally made it so that the saucer is secured with a tiny, solitary screw. Likewise, having a stand be unobtrusive on a collector's item is a no-brainer, nobody would ever think that this needs to be brought up. Yet apparently it does...

It's all very frustrating.

No to thread lock. This isn’t something that going to back out because of vibration or mechanical stress. Just torque it down hand tight is my guess right now. I do think quality superglue would take some stress off the screw threads doing the work holding it together. Very much leaning this direction myself.
Maybe replace the screw with the strongest rated one to be found. I doubt the screw would snap, it’s the threads in the neck I would be concerned about, we don’t know how well they are anchored. or even if the neck itself is connected strongly. Need to have in hand to decide what I want to do.

I think reinforcing the saucer to neck connection should be solvable with a better screw and/or epoxy glue. After seeing some of the unboxing videos, I'm wondering more about the strength of the connection between the secondary hull and its base.

Looks like the weight of the saucer may be putting downward pressure on the secondary hull, pulling the rear up and off its base. May need to look into a better method to more securely attach it to the base.

Or have someone redesign a new base that can hold it better. :D

All this flip-flopping back and forth between the good and bad of this model is making it hard to decide whether keeping an extra one to sell is worth it. Unfortunately we have no way of knowing what these will go for on the secondary market. Listings on EBay are only buy now, deliver later, and none of them represent the Enterprise, warts and all. Anyone purchasing one of these right now I believe will be dissatisfied with what they get. Until one of these is properly presented with pics showing the actual product, we have no idea what "she" might go for on line. By then it will be too late to cancel your order. It's quite the quandary.

I don't disagree at all (and have said as much in other posts here) hence my, "Too trusting and overconfident were we all (or most of us anyway)..."

To be honest I have far less sympathy for folks who double-dipped on this with the intention of flipping for profit sometime down the road (or sooner)...

More bummed for people like myself who just wanted a great model to display for our own enjoyment.

That said, I'm sure you'll be able to get your money back and more - it's just a matter of how long that will take.

If you're sure you don't want it put it on eBay for presale. They're getting $1200-1500 right now (minus eBay's 15% cut), though I would do screen grabs from those good videos that are out for full disclosure. That'll help avoid a NAD return.

I don't think anyone has sold one since the pictures came out on August....

If you cancel you can’t undo that: if you keep the order safe bet you can at least get what it cost back. No harm done. With all the pretty lights these will go for plenty enough is my bet.

Stop stressing.lol You won't lose your shirt on these. You will at the very least get you money back. No one is gonna sell below $600 on these including Tomy ...
