Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Yes, I suspect that-- but why Australia? What if Pebbles and PhoenixBlazes hadn't been inclined to share? Or are they in it on it !?!?! ( no that isn't a serious accusation) If seems if you wanted an initial take you could just send one out - even a pre-production model - to an "influencer" - If I recall correctly Adam Savage ordered one, as did a number of you tubers. Tomy even gave an interview to one of them .

Maybe it was regionally the fastest place to get them out there, and maybe there were more people, but they knew a few would post the news given the rabid nature of collector's circles.

Perhaps. I just doubt you leave such things to chance on a million dollar project. With modern shipping there is virtually no place in the world a package can't be within 24 hours.
I have yet to see pictures other than those posted here, elsewhere. The ones from this thread seem to be the ones making the rounds.
( but would love to see more feedback form anyone who has on in hand if you can point me to it)

There will be tons of unboxing videos on YouTube in a few weeks, I'm sure.

Guys, if you cancelled, you might want to check your email. Despite getting a cancellation confirmation from Jennifer, I got an address confirmation request email from Tomy this morning, so their Iowa warehouse will know where to ship my model.

Oh, and they don't ship outside of the United States. Just so you're aware!!!

But I guess somebody does, huh?

Yeah, I got that too and have cancelled my order. I think it's just automated. They know many are cancelling so I don't think they will ship any by mistake - but who knows.

I got one too. I'm not replying. Still no refund to my card yet

I'm keeping my shipment I think, but it kind of depends a bit, Pebble Phoenixblazes does the piece seem STURDY to you? Ie the issue with the potential saucer droop it is because the material seems too soft for the scale or is it the mounting point just seems insufficient?

Definitely planning on a better way to suspend it, maybe something to hold up the saucer and nacelles.

With real regret, I canceled my order. It was 22 hours from my email to them asking for a cancelation to their confirmation of that cancelation, which I received just now. The customer-service rep who signed my cancelation email was "Jo."

For those that are unhappy with the interior bridge detail facing forward, that would contradict the Franz Joseph tech manual and blueprints having it offset by 36 degrees (to account for the exterior elevator shaft being directly behind the bridge dome), there can be a good reason that TOMY went with a forward facing bridge. In The Cage, as well as in The Menagerie, when the zoom-in to the bridge is seen, it is indeed facing forward. Also, the contradiction is seen between that view (including the bridge set having the off center elevator entrance) and the exterior model having an in-line elevator shaft “bump.” TOMY can then have had a choice between the two and might, having known this, went with a forward facing bridge. I’m quite happy with this, as either (even though they contradict each other) would be “accurate.”

I decided to keep mine, warts and all. I still want your Martian war machine, lol!

What if Tomy actually did fill the plugs and seams and sent some to Australia witout the holes and seams filled. What if this was a ploy to see how may fans would keep their Enterprise. What if those who choose to keep their orders actually get Enterprises with filled plugs, and Tomy sells the canceled orders for more money?

No, I’m pretty sure that they will be like the Aussie ones. There was an earlier post by an engineer that said that filling seams in a metal model would not really work, as cracks would appear later.

Not according to Tomy's update that was released a few days ago !

The contradiction is simply due to filming for television. Having the turbolift doors directly behind Kirk does not work for blocking and dramatic effect. They also had no idea Trek would become the monster that it became where people would pour over every detail.

You could imagine that the turbolift shaft is located there, but then the car moves up and off the side, behind the doors or other bridge controls to allow for other cars to go up and down, especially during an emergency.

I have that blueprint set too. I think he did as good as he could at the time, but there certainly are discrepencies, including where the engineering room is which doesn't gel with statements made on the show about where it really is located.

I always get a chuckle when people try to match movie or TV sets with models or even real world counterparts. Most of the time there are anamolies (many) - and it's usually because you have to film it and make it look good.
