Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

This is RPF: you get paint and filler on your way in here...

While opening the box on delivery day.....

"I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me,
I am one with the Filler and the Filler is with me."

A ****-ton of USS Enterprises coming to a Dyersville, Iowa Tomy Outlet Store in the near future. Ha!

No matter what happens, I don't think anyone needs to worry about the money we spent. I don't think we'd lose money selling our replicas if one chooses too.

I'm kinda feeling like this about the whole thing!

Still it's a PITA to resell stuff nowadays...
I have a friend who wants to buy one of mine or if that doesn't happen I wouldn't have any problems selling it on eBay or OfferUp. I used to make a living selling on eBay but that was before they got so greedy with their fees.

Yes, so we'd have to sell them on eBay for $750 just to make our money back.

I'm torn, in that I already have the MR which I'm happy with. But since that resells for a lot more, I could take a chance with this one and keep whichever I prefer...
I remind myself that I started out skeptical and somewhere along the way got emotionally invested in the results. Like I thought it might, looks like my MR will remain with me.

Listen, I have no dog in this race, but the whole thing seemed off to me from the start, somehow.

I personally plan on building my own 1/350 model, which is why I passed on this.

Best wishes to those who didn't.

I miss peak-era Master Replicas.

My original plan for this was to have the TOMY version as the replica closest to the filming model. I have the Polar Lights 1/350 kit and I'm going to build that sometime in the next year, but I'm going to customize it very differently from the filming model so it will be non-canon in a lot of ways. I'm still going to build it that way but we'll have to see if the TOMY is worth keeping, worth trying to fix up, or if I should just bail on it and build two versions for myself.

Sounds like a lot of people are planning on returning theirs for a refund, but will that even be possible, as these were charged on CC's and paid for over a year ago?

If they can no longer refund to our credit card, they would just send a refund check, I assume.

Looking forward to the next official update, here are the “Incoming Transmission: <Month> Update” format email dates (from my inbox). The October update wasn’t titled as such. There were two December updates. Only day numbers that repeat so far are the 15th and 16th.

10/27/2022
11/17/2022
12/8/2022
12/15/2022
1/24/2023
2/16/2023
3/16/2023
4/13/2023
5/11/2023
6/15/2023
7/20/2023
8/10/2023

Assuming some of the feedback and questions have reached TOMY, I would hope that the next update would be a bit more extensive than the bullet points we've been getting. Would be nice to see detailed beauty shots and commentary on why things are the way that they are. Just ignoring criticisms would be a bad look for TOMY, but it's entirely possible that there are reasonable explanations for changes along the way. I understand fully how/why changes happen, but some acknowledgement and rationale will go along way, I think, for their trusting customers.

Explanations are well and good, but in the end they're just excuses for failing to deliver what's promised. That does nothing to earn back trust.

One thing is certain. Tomy is aware by now that many of their customers are concerned, some quite upset at the latest turn of events. The September update is likely to confirm matters for us, either for the better or the worse. I, for one, won't be purchasing any future projects if they don't get this one right!
