Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

I suspect they'll be quite a few of these on the market for resale soon. Should prove interesting how this effects resale value, if anyone wants to buy one after this debacle.

Tomy still hasn't responded to my inquiry sent 3 weeks ago.
Me neither. And I used their Customer Service form which supposedly would be the preferred contact method. I'm actually less and less concerned about the seams, screw plugs, orange bussard collectors, and saucer support stand and more PO'd about the lack of response to genuine concerns raised by folks who invested $600+ a year ago to fund a project based on faith in promises/claims. Transparency and respect for customers goes a long way toward smoothing over any manufacturing compromises.

They never will. It's a shame. It really is. The only reason why I did this Cf was because I thought ....WOW. Tomy?? They have been around forever. They do good stuff. What I neglected to think about was this is Tomy's US branch. They probably don't have the standards of overseas Tomy. Someone stuck their big nose in there and said we are not gonna do this or that. As I mentioned before. WE are not the ones that cut down the backer counts. If they didn't have the proper cash to do what they wanted. That's on them not us....

Yup. Also the fact that Chris and Dan won't answer emails anymore, makes it oh so easier to pass up anything these two guys try to hustle on youtube.
Again....TOMY/US cut the backer counts TWICE.....Not the people that backed in good faith at the beginning.

If this thing turns out better then the last pics showed great. (I'm not holding my breath though). But the lack of communication I can't forgive....

Well everyone, tomorrow (Friday, September, 15) is the big day we've all been waiting for. Time for the September update! I just know they're going to come through! (Or, maybe NOT). Actually, who thinks we'll get another update before she ships out?

Haha. The last update was the 10th of August. It's been over a month. I bet they skip the last one. .

Why do you think tomorrow is the big day for an update?

Well, all is not lost. We can always display the Enterprise in the opposite direction like in "Mirror, Mirror". The screw holes look like docking ports. Maybe we can "pretend" that she had some modifications made in years 4 and 5 of her five year mission. This new version of the Enterprise clearly needs a name. That being the case, I hereby formally christen this new version of the iconic ship, and may she be forever known in Star Trek canon as the U.S.S. Enterprise T-fit. The "T", of course, stands for Tomy. Yes my dear friends, Tomy has clearly made its mark on the beloved vessel. After a fierce and uncertain battle a year ago, Tomy proved without a doubt that they, like Kirk, could defeat the Kobayashi Maru. By changing the rules of the game, they were able to defeat the odds, and unwittingly bring to life a never before anticipated version of the Enterprise. This new version of the U.S.S. Enterprise initially came as a surprise to many fans of the original series who were unaware of her history after three years completion of her five year mission. Little if anything is presenty known, but cleary something happened during those remaining two years of service. Oddly, the mystery surrounding her new configuration and added portals is exacly what intrigues TOS series fans the most. Now commonly refered to by Star Trek fans as the "T-fit" or "Tomy-fit" Enterprise, this newly discovered ship fits squarely in the Trek universe timeline between the original Enterprise and Refit Enterprise. Many fans have already shown their support in this new developemet in Star Trek history, as a new collector replica has been announced. Excited TOS fans are now anxiously awaiting their newly minted replicas to arrive at their doorsteps in the next few weeks. It seems a whole new series may evolve as a result of this most unforseen addition to Star Trek canon, the newly discovered U.S.S. Enterprise "T-fit". Due to its recent discovery, there is boud to be stories of its history to be uncovered. I, for one, can't wait to discover that history.

I ordered one of these in Australia through a reseller here (EB Games). I've just gotten a shipping notice that it has been dispatched and that it should be delivered to me next week. Not sure if they were shipped here directly from China and that's why they are appearing here before the supposed October shipping date, but I'll keep everyone informed once I get it.

Best of luck with the reseller. This CF ships to US only.

Looking forward to the next official update, here are the “Incoming Transmission: <Month> Update” format email dates (from my inbox). The October update wasn’t titled as such. There were two December updates. Only day numbers that repeat so far are the 15th and 16th.

10/27/2022
11/17/2022
12/8/2022
12/15/2022
1/24/2023
2/16/2023
3/16/2023
4/13/2023
5/11/2023
6/15/2023
7/20/2023
8/10/2023

Well, at the 15th. It seems to me at this point a delay in a update is good news. It means they realized that they promised one thing, and aren't delivering it. This is probably all corporate bean counter bs. I still suspect they "highlighted" the plugs to make sure we saw them and would provide feedback. Otherwise, if one really planned to under deliver then one makes sure you find out about that when you take it out of the box. The vast majority won't ask for a refund once it is in their hands and they physically have to get it shipped out. Especially if the after market is still more than they paid. You sell it there instead of trying to get a refund. Fix the issues with some basic modeling skills and sell it for a good deal more. But the result is no one crowdfunds anything Star Trek from you ever again. It would better to take a loss leader on this one and then ask more going forward. If they delivered on this correctly, I fully expected a refit model would be at least $800-1200 - because the company has proven itself. They got their BTTF Delorian funded- big time. But before this first result was known. Maybe they bought one more chance to get it right -so they get a 50/50 reputation. But that is foolish. Why not deliver what was promised so you can sell more stuff to a loyal fanbase. Especially now that other competitors -especially in the die cast space - are basically defunct. Me personally? I'll probably be happy with it as shown. Its half the price of the master replica and if the problems bug me, my mediocre modeling skills are enough to fix it without spending all of the time of building a kit from scratch (time is really what I don't have)

Or............they could just be ignoring us!

Or............they could just be ignoring us!

Given that they haven't answered emails about people's concerns this seems more likely. I can't see them stopping production to correct issues. They probably have most of them ready to go by this point...

Well it’s official. Mine has just been delivered!

Like the above new member I too received mine via an Australian retailer. That being Zing (EB Games).

But unfortunately I was just about to leave for work, so I was unable to unbox it. Heck I didn’t even have the time to take it out of the shipper box to see the art box.

Find attached images of two sides of the shipper box.

Still can’t believe we here in Australia seem to have received this before anyone in the US.

Way to leave us in suspense!

Sorry :)

I was this close to calling my boss, to take a sicky!

I expect to be unboxing it in about 8 hours, after I get home from work.

But unlike most here, I'm not at all discerning when it comes to catching inaccuracies with models such as this. The best I'll be able to do, is post the odd badly taken photos from my phone's camera.

As I said on a couple of the statue forums, I'll be sure to post a few pics of any questionable areas. However I don't currently have any free space to display this, as I wasn't expecting to receive this so soon. So more than likely it'll be placed in an area of my collection full of Marvel/DC statues when I take my photos :(

Mine just arrived as well, luckily I am working from home today so I've opened it on my lunch break, though I haven't had a chance to display it properly yet.

I'm also not great with pictures, but I've put some below, taken on my phone.

The seams and plug holes that were mentioned earlier are visible. The stand is quite light, but I don't think there'll be any issues with it. The shuttles have some weight to them which is nice, and I like the look of the bridge through the dome.

Overall I'm really happy with it however (though like Phoenixblazes, I'm not as discerning as others might be).
