I did away with the saucer support base as others have also . Time will tell if it sags or not !
Well according to Chris at TOMY we can do away with the saucer section stand without worries. Plenty of people have followed his advice so we’ll see.

I plan to do the same thing...but would love to see someone come up with a better design for the secondary hull base.

Me to. I do hope some aftermarket stand becomes available. I mean there have been so many after market products for other collectibles I don't see why not.

As soon as I have a permanent setting for my TOMY I'm gonna remove the saucer stand and keep the ship as a single display as well.

I use the saucer stand to hold it in position as I connect the saucer to the engineering hull. As soon as the bolt is tight, I lift the saucer and remove that stand altogether. I do the same in reverse when taking things apart.

That's was the only time I used the stand as well.

I bought two ships. I only opened one so far but I have a couple issues. The seam down the top of the secondary hull has a slight gap where the marker lights are. It's most noticeable when the lighting is turned on. The second issue I can't get the reflector dish assembly to fully twist into place. I don't want to put a lot of torque on it in fear of breaking something. Did anyone else have this problem after installing the batteries?

I bought the second to save for a possible resale in the future sometime but should I open it to check its condition before it's too late to get a replacement if something is out of order?

I don't know if you should open or not. If you are gonna resell as sealed just put a disclaimer that you are not responsible for factory defects.

I still need to check my second one. I guess it’s time before it’s too late if something is wrong. Plus you can pick the better of the two for yourself or swap sections. I think buyers would rather know it works.
Nothing is serialized.

Open it to make sure it is good to go. Sell as opened only for inspect but new

You should contact Tomy and get a replacement. No reason not to.

Yep. See this post: Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

They will ask for photos and they will replace any genuinely defective parts, but they will not replace the whole ship. In my case it was the secondary hull that had issues and they insisted on replacing it despite my repeated offers to fix myself with a set of new plugs to replace the ones I pulled out.

They are paying for shipping each way and they said if something is wrong with the new part they will replace that one as well. So far I am very impressed by Tomy customer service. Carry on........

I received my replacement saucer. It's perfect. The only problem is I was told I could return the saucer in the original package or a smaller package, whatever I felt better going with. I told Jennifer I was sending it back in the original shipper for safety and was never told I would not get it back. So I let her know I expect to have a shipper sent to me as it shows in the emails I was never told I would not get it back, even after I told her I was using the original to send it back.

I will post as soon as I get an answer.

Despite all the problems I still love this thing, it was worth it to return the flawed saucer, and I am very happy with it.

Mine was snug too. Just have to make sure the little tabs are aligned and it's lined up when you push in and then turn to lock it in place. It really only goes one way. It was tight when I did it but it fits fine now. It was a lot easier the second time when I put new batteries in too.

I have slight gap in the rear hull section too that's noticeable when the lights are on. Not enough that I'm concerned about though. If you put up some photos I could compare easier. I've seen it in a lot of videos too - so it's probably not uncommon...

Overall, I'm satisfied and don't want to replace and risk other issues. These things are not perfect - there are minor paint flaws - slight chipping - weird shuttles - seams, and on down the line.
