Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Yeah, I'm thinking that too but I'm torn it might affect it's value. Which do you think a potential buyer would prefer and pay more, a sealed in box copy and sold as is or one that has been opened and fully inspected and tested?

I'm thinking in a few years people will pay good money for the ones on our tables. So I would not worry too much a about value....the good thing about the packaging is it's easily repacked.

Well, we got a year to decide. LOL Warranty is good for that. Assuming they hang on to some units to ship as replacements that long.

Haha. You know maybe it was a good thing many cancelled. If Tomy was smart they would hold onto the returns for a bit to make sure people don't need a replacement...

I was super excited. Got mine, love it. No paint problems. Model is awesome. Stand is crap, etc.

Then I discovered some kind of mark or damage to the bridge dome and the Portside red bridge light does not work.

Guess it's a return.

BTW why in the hell are there no lit windows on the Portside side of the saucer edge????

Why are there more windows lit on the Portside drive section then the Starboard??????

They can't say it's based on the filming model as that side was not finished at all.

Well, this started as a good day.

The port side does not have working lights. That is one aspect of the Studio filming model they copied, including less windows on that side. The port side of the studio model does have some details. Including the windows you see on your models portside saucer.....
I think the master replicas version went their own way and put the full row of windows....
I was bewildered a couple months ago by this.... saw the studio model was exactly the same and am now happy with it....

My Enterprise arrived today. There have been plenty of postings and reviews so I won’t go through the whole unboxing. But I will say this model is beautiful and I’m very pleased with my purchase. I went over every millimeter and didn’t find any of the paint flaws some others have noticed. The weathering, rust ring and grid pattern (spots) aren’t nearly as noticeable to the eye as cameras capture. Same with the screw plugs and saucer seam. I even think the shuttles look good from a normal viewing distance. They could have done a better job engineering them but they aren’t meant to be zoomed in on with a cellphone camera. I will say my shuttle seams are tighter than I’ve seen others post (poor quality control at the factory). The outer box is beautiful and the packaging is very secure. UPS did a fine job delivering without any punctures through the shipping box. The saucer was difficult to install And had to be rocked back and forth with some force to get it seated. It’s NEVER coming off again.

Anyway, I hope those that stuck with it are happy with their models.

Ps.
I WILL be displaying it without the saucer support. We’ll see what happens over time.

CONGRATS!!!! : )

Got mine! No obvious paint errors or blemishes, phew! I gotta say i love it, it's got a lovely heft to it, the screw covers are really the only thing stopping this from being perfect. and maybe that seam in the shuttlecraft. and the stand. and the nacelle domes feel a little toy-ish. and I'm terrified of snapping that little saucer dome laser off. and...nah, that's it.

I'm very happy though! Here's hoping for a refit!

Received mine today. I got a big puncture hole that went through both boxes. I can see stand damage. Sent an email to customer service.

Waitng patiently for someone to do a side-by-side-by-side comparison between the TOMY, Master Replicas, and Round 2 1/350 Enterprises. That would prove interesting.

Very happy with the paint job and detailing!
This product is actually quite impressive despite my concern about the plugs and the shuttlecraft debacle. It’s quite a light show!!!

One thing I noticed. If you look at the surface of the ship in a well lit room at certain angles in the light. The surface is a fingerprint/blemish magnet if held long enough while moving or putting together. It's a matte finish and fingerprints are not easy to remove. Lol....the surface is very easy to accidently blemish permanently as well I'm sure. I have had little diecast cares in matte paint that do exactly that...

That's rarely an issue for me nowadays, as I've got in the habit of wearing cotton gloves when unboxing my collectables such as figures and statues. Yes, I know weird. But especially since I started buying silicone busts of various Marvel/DC characters, my bare hands rarely ever touch them as the oils can damage the piece over time.

Haha. Yeah. But most people do not do that. I would not even know how to clean the surface of this thing. As I said a few pages back the paint is very thin and I can see some paint rub happing a bit over time. From the stand on the lower half as well as the saucer. I guess that is not such a bad thing though. The ENTEPRISE was never supposed to be a completely clean ship....
