Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Side question for brainstorming... I"m not a fan of the clear bridge dome. Nice there is a bridge in there but I really don't need to see it and prefer the studio model appearance. I'd like it to be frosted over but I don't want to make it a permanent change. Something that could be peeled off or something that might conform to the shape if heated and just set on top.

Anything come to mind?

Sorry I can't help, but I agree. It would be cool to have that option...

On the subject of Tomy making a Refit, I wonder if they'll ever address the survey they ran last year asking which ship they should make next. Did they even state which ship won?

What about a couple of drops of white Elmer’s glue over the clear dome? It would dry with a frosted appearance, be translucent in order to allow light to shine through, but also be easily peeled off and removed. It seems like an easy and safe first attempt before trying anything more complicated and drastic.

Nope never heard a beep! But I to would love to know the answer! : )

Here is a screen grab for the member asking about Shuttle Craft names hard to make out from TOMY below. Its shame the shuttles as GC pointed out should have been one piece like the pics below. Oh well...

Thanks for the info, but what’s weird is that they didn’t end up going with this. The 3 shuttles I received are 1701/3 “Columbus”, 1701/6 “Einstein”, and 1701/7 “Galileo”.

I wonder why they changed the shuttle registry numbers and the names from what was originally shown?

worth experimenting on something else for sure.

I was super excited. Got mine, love it. No paint problems. Model is awesome. Stand is crap, etc.

Then I discovered some kind of mark or damage to the bridge dome and the Portside red bridge light does not work.

Guess it's a return.

BTW why in the hell are there no lit windows on the Portside side of the saucer edge????

Why are there more windows lit on the Portside drive section then the Starboard??????

They can't say it's based on the filming model as that side was not finished at all.

Well, this started as a good day.

My Enterprise arrived today. There have been plenty of postings and reviews so I won’t go through the whole unboxing. But I will say this model is beautiful and I’m very pleased with my purchase. I went over every millimeter and didn’t find any of the paint flaws some others have noticed. The weathering, rust ring and grid pattern (spots) aren’t nearly as noticeable to the eye as cameras capture. Same with the screw plugs and saucer seam. I even think the shuttles look good from a normal viewing distance. They could have done a better job engineering them but they aren’t meant to be zoomed in on with a cellphone camera. I will say my shuttle seams are tighter than I’ve seen others post (poor quality control at the factory). The outer box is beautiful and the packaging is very secure. UPS did a fine job delivering without any punctures through the shipping box. The saucer was difficult to install And had to be rocked back and forth with some force to get it seated. It’s NEVER coming off again.

Anyway, I hope those that stuck with it are happy with their models.

Ps.
I WILL be displaying it without the saucer support. We’ll see what happens over time.

I guess I missed that but the motors on the front of the nacelles have three different speeds. Coolio.

Just wish that one light was working and bridge dome was not damaged.

Flashbacks to when I got the MR Enterprise. Had to send it back because the bridge lights didn't work. They will take care of you.

There were no window lights on the port side saucer edge on the studio model, just painted black ones I think, yet
yeah they made some creative choices here and there for lighting why not light up them up? Those little red and green lights on top behind the domes. Those were never lit. Just painted. They lit those up.

Hmmm, if getting reports of some malfunctions, maybe it's best to open and test my second one, rather than leave it mint in box unopened. I'd hate to sell it to someone and it's not right.

Since Tomy still has stock I would tell them you want to do a return, exchange.

Yeah, I'm thinking that too but I'm torn it might affect it's value. Which do you think a potential buyer would prefer and pay more, a sealed in box copy and sold as is or one that has been opened and fully inspected and tested?

buyers are always gonna want NIB. always. the value takes a hit by, i dunno, 15-30% if you admit to cracking the seal.

the only way to get piece of mind that i can think of, and it's not guaranteed, is to make sure you buy insurance on the FULL VALUE of the shipment, not just the free $100. it could, and I emphasize COULD, be argued that the damage occurred in transit.

Opened and carefully inspected would be better. I have never been a fan of "sealed."

Well, we got a year to decide. LOL Warranty is good for that. Assuming they hang on to some units to ship as replacements that long.

I’ve often seen:

New, Open
Opened for testing only.
Never displayed.

Just maintain the integrity of the original packaging as best as possible.
