Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

I haven’t reviewed all today’s posts. Does anyone have splotches like this on the saucer? Warts and all I love her but this looks bad to me, I’m no expert but this is not correct, right?

Normal for these but of course inaccurate and annoying. It really shows up on flash photography.

It’s their way to “tone down” the grid lines.

I saw a 20% off everything in their store. I doubt it would count toward these. The way people have acted about this, I wouldn't build another enterprise or anything for them.
Except that a for-profit corporation isn’t a human with feelings to get butt hurt about. Too much $$$ to be made - especially since we’ve proven to be a very tolerant bunch. Myself included.

Somebody did a battery test, I think on facebook, and ran the lights for 14 hours before the batteries were drained.
It was me 2 pages ago lol. Things are moving fast here now and hard to keep up.

As for whether or not it’s “ok” to leave them on, a typical LED theoretically will last 20,000 hours or very much longer. That’s 10 years of a 9-5 job. I have 1980s audio equipment with LEDs that I bought new myself that is on most hours of everyday and still going strong.

I would just use common sense and turn it on when you’re in the same room and turn it off when no one is appreciating it. And this thing has motors so that’s a different topic. I don’t recall them saying if they were brushless or brushed - with the former being much better.

Whew...I was losing my mind. I thought I saw it on facebook. :)

When you consider shipping cost, sales tax, cost for such nice packaging, then you are looking at about $400 for the enterprise...maybe? Then how much it cost to produce each piece? I would love to know if they made a profit off it.
Me too. I would love to know if they felt the campaign was successful despite the mishaps and some backlash from the fanboy community.

I truly hope TOMY felt it was a positive achievement. I know I do as do many on this thread.

I want to see more TREK ships and maybe SW ships in the future. But as I've STATED MANY TIMES...I WANT THAT REFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone here needs to start emailing Chris at TOMY everyday until they give us that REFIT!!! LOL

Give me Refit or give me death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha. Sorry guys. Count me out...I'm content with the TOS Enterprise. I like the refit just fine but for some reason after all these years the TOS is still the Enterprise I want to own a big model of. Plus I don't have the room for another big model like this. Also there is no way it will be as affordable the next time around. It will be in plastic, and probably at least $1200. I'm content with my diamond select refit ..

WAAAAHHHHH??? NO WAY Ant1998! Hell everyone needs a refit in their collection! LOL ;) But hey you are a better man than me resisting the urges of the collector! Of course when you see the pics you may change your mind.....

I hope the refit will be all diecast. I hope they keep it at 900 at least. I think that would work for many people. :)

Me thinks we got a bargain with our Enterprise. Plus there is a slight light leak in the shuttle bay area. But overall a beautiful overcharged price from Anovos.

Hi everybody. I got mine today and here’s my experience.

UPS dreadful. Package was left on my porch. So much for them needing a signature. Must’ve been chucking them around. Box had been punctured right though and bashed in several places. One end completely crumpled up at the bottom. This meant the limited edition box inside was also bashed and punctured. Fortunately, Tomy did a great job on packaging it so I got lucky, on inspection there was no conceivable damage to the ship.

First the negative. Shuttles are terrible. Two of mine have cracks on the nacelle pylons. The insignia on them are rubbish as well. The transfers have been stuck on pretty squinty on the engines. Whilst the size of the shuttles makes this pretty difficult, a bit of care would have at least made them look a little better. Then there’s the ridiculous way they’re molded. Awful, as others have pointed out. That said, shuttles aren’t a deal breaker for me. I don’t believe the damage to them was caused by transit. The shuttles are very well protected in the packaging.

Cosmetic flaws: I don’t have any of the issues others have mentioned here. There’s only one tiny part on the underside of the saucer which has some kind of tiny mark on it. It won’t come off. It’s not visible unless you’re really looking for it. I feel this happened at the manufacturing stage. In any case I’m counting myself blessed considering UPS had their wicked way with it.

Stand. I really don’t like the saucer stand. For the same reasons as everybody else so I’ll be looking into a different solution. The saucer stand does make the model really stable. I like the added stability it gives. I wouldn’t trust displaying the model long term on the original single stand despite what Tomy engineers claim. For short periods, I believe it’s fine. My stand doesn’t do all the creaking that was in Trevor’s youtube video.

Screw covers aren’t all that noticeable from a little distance away so again, not a deal breaker. Seams don’t bother me much unless they’re on those ridiculous shuttles. Honestly what were they thinking?

Pros: Detail is great, lights and nacelles work fine. Motors on mine aren’t loud at all when spinning. Props (pun intended) to Tomy for making it pretty quiet. Model really does come alive once lit. I watched it on and off for probably half an hour after leaving it lit up. My wife commented it looks pretty cool and trust me, she’s harder to please than seven of nine at an intergalactic orgy…..

I don’t regret my purchase. Yes the flaws are a little disappointing but overall it still looks great. A nice addition to my collection. I was worried about buyer’s remorse and I’m glad to report that’s not the case for me.

Hopefully Tomy will learn from this and do another. So, Tomy if you’re reading this, I’d like a refit version too.

I’ve uploaded some pics. One shows the model next to my Franklin Mint Enterprise for scale. And if you turn off the flash on your phone you can get a wormhole effect.

I bought this pretty much on a whim, as TOS was never really my Trek. Still, as one of the first people to receive this over a month ago, I have zero regrets with my purchase. But I would kill for a Galaxy Class.....

Well maybe not, as that $17K one is a bit out of my price range. That one piece alone probably equals the combined cost of the last 4-5 life size silicone busts I've received this past 6 months or so.
