Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

All I'm saying that whatever Tomy did here is much more forgiving than what HT did to their customers. They seem to have no clue that people who spends the price of an Xbox on a single plastic figure puts a lot of value in its exclusivity. Tomy did the best they could at the price point they charged. It did not feel like greed, but not financially feasible to fix these models. No one here thinks Tomy is laughing themselves to the bank. In fact most people are hoping this snafu doesnt lose them so much money as it would compromise future projects. HT however will always try to make a buck at the expense of their customers with INTENTIONAL false advertising with their "limited edition" BS.

I've been collecting Hot Toys for about 10 years, and even then, most collectors on the Collector Freaks (Sideshow Freaks) forum were already commenting then, that you shouldn't be buying them for investment purposes, or heck even to break even.

I probably have over a hundred figures, and I doubt I could even get half what I paid for them. But I knew that going in.

UPS didn’t reroute on the Friday delivery. App said next business day - Monday between 1-5. Working in the backyard today I saw the UPS truck drive away. Jumped up, ran to the front door and saw the tag. Bolted down the block like a 5 year old. “Mr UPS man do you have my ship?”

Aye ladd, I’m 45. I will unbox tomorrow lol

Ha ha. We’ll see how brave I am once I actually start the process lol. Using the crude method of standing on a bathroom scale and then picking up the ship with no stands attached - the weight of mine assembled is 13.8 pounds. I use redundant loops of 40lb fishing line on my other stuff but this will be the heaviest yet.
How will you turn her on/off if she's hanging?

Exactly how I felt, a grown man racing home from work early Friday to intercept my delivery left in my driveway without a signature. Man, I've never left work in such a hurry. You'd have thought I had a real emergency on my hands. Well, actually, it was a real emergency. I wasn't about to leave that delivery unattended!

It’s a normal 7 foot ceiling so still within reach (I’m 6’2”).

If I end up disassembling and there’s room inside I will install a couple of WiFi relays between the existing switches and the light groups so all modes will be Alexa controlled while retaining the original touch switches. Check out the Delorean mods page on CF to see how I did that if you want. Issue here is I will have to disassemble first to see if that is doable. And I’ll likely have to run a WiFi antenna wire outside of the ship because metal eats radio waves.

For now, I’ll just live with replacing batteries and pressing the buttons.

I'd love to convert mine to AC powered as well. Perhaps you could run your wifi antenna along the thingy under the saucer and put it to good use.

For anyone questioning saucer separation I noticed TOMY seems to have followed the Franz Joseph blueprints for the separation point. That made me more comfortable with the design.

I wonder if anyone now regrets cancelling their orders?
Was wondering the same thing. Also wonder how many TOMY eventually sold after all the cancellations were made. I did notice one person in the comment section in one of the unboxing videos on YouTube voiced their regret in canceling. Just one but I am sure there must be more.

I found a pretty good and convenient spot to display mine for now. My fridge in the basement (collection room) is tucked in a highly visible corner at the bottom of the stairs and is the perfect height for seeing the top of the ship as you walk down the stairs and just above eye level when standing in front of it. Bonus is you don’t really see the base of the stand - just the clear acrylic. I can add a couple of jewel case spot lights like on the rest of my stuff and have a flying Enterprise without the fuss of suspending it. The center of gravity on this diecast version is not as suspension friendly as I had hoped so this may wind up being its permanent home. So, if you have a basement fridge - you have another display option.

I wonder if we can get some touch up paint for these things. There are what??? Two shades of grey, some yellow and red????? As I said earlier I have a tiny chip on a nacelle. The paint is not awful thick. So it got me thinking that eventually paint rub of the stand, accidental bumps etc will mare the surface over time. I wonder if Tomy can provide some???

Ask them ASAP before this becomes a distant memory. However my advice would have been to ask for an immediate replacement because of the flaw before you assembled it. This is a problem with Diecast anything they tend to chip easy. White paint is the worst because the grey base metal is immediately exposed vs. a dark vehicle like a Batmobile in die-cast. What makes this worse is..... it arrived that way. I would ask them for a replacement and see what they say.

It's just a tiny chip. I don't think it would be worth sending back out....lol

I also have one with a tiny paint chip on the starboard nacelle at the bussard collector. Pretty small though. Not worth returning to me. I'll just consider it external battle damage. Can you post a picture? Maybe we can compare battle wounds!
