Diamond Select Star Trek Tricorder

No problem man. :)

It was just five minutes of photoshop work, but as soon as I saw the bottom of the toy I immediately thought I needed to cover that up with something...

Figured I might as well share. :)

I think we might be getting a little carried away compairing to the MR Version! just my thought any way!..........this is a toy and the other is a prop replica........to compair in size but not in quality and workmanship!!

If comparing it to the MR makes it look bad, we can always go back to comparing it to the Playmates version.

I still have an unbuilt 24th Century Tricorder kit laying around. I wonder how many of the metal parts from that would be an easy swap out on this Tric?

I wouldn't be stealing parts from that kit. Those kits are hard to come by, and would probably sell for quite a bit.

I've heard a few say that aluminum was expensive or hard to come by. With the acception of the morie ring, and maybe the disks. Check out ebay for stock aluminum. You can get channel, and square tubes, and sheets in different sizes without spending too much coin.

Can someone post the instruction sheet? Thanks,

Pumpernickel (who ordered from another vendor, who hasn't received their supply yet) :unsure:cry

Interesting...I just noticed the tricorder has no screws above the strap slots. The one time screws are accurate to the prop, and Diamond finds a way to avoid using them! :lol

Which reminds me of another question I've had...just how easy is it going to be to crack these things open for modifcations? Is anyone already planning to do a full autopsy?

As the motor was accurate in the scanner and Diamond avoided using that as well but added sound :confused

Well, when you put it like that I guess we'll also have to rip out all of the electronics in the tricorder itself, as there were none in the originals either...

Perhaps it was all just a ploy on Diamond's part to drive up sales of Roddenberry's med scanner. It has a motor, and it's only $150...

Received mine today...the medical one. The voice feature has to go. Sounds nothing like McCoy, but sounds a lot like Simon form the Chipmunks. The motor is nice and loud just like on the Communicator. With some work it could be turned into a nice costume piece.

Cool graphics! I wonder if they could be added to a chromed hole plug, and find a way to have that cover that lame looking battery cover base.

Well, I finally ordered it. Today's payday, woohoo! I tried to order it 2 or 3 times, and when I was almost done, "the internet connection has been reset". Rassafrassin brassafrass! Very agrivating. But the last time the order seems to have gone through, so with any luck by next payday, I'll have something capable of scanning life forms! :love

Maybe it's a subtle way of saying "move out of the sticks." Or at least closer to a shipping hub. :lol

the sticks! :lol Maybe I really should move for a cheap plastic $39.00 Trek Toy!!?? I am sure it would be worth it!!..................... Really what they want to say was...........well I won't go there! :lol

I live close to a shipping hub. I got the delivery email on the 3rd, that it had shipped. Today it says its in Denver. 50 miles away, but estimated delivery is not until Tuesday the 9th. 3 days from California to Denver. 3 days for that last 50 miles. :(
