Diablo 3 Female Barbarian Tier 5 Armor Build

Yep, that costume is a beauty for sure. The amount of work and effort really shows in the end product:cool

Thank you for the kind encouragement! I don't have any exciting progress pics to show for today, but I made a simple, short brown dress out of soft stretch suede to wear under the armor. I am working on finishing building the knee plates and belt, then those can move to painting while I start building some pauldrons this next week!

knees are almost done. I've been working on building the pauldrons which are really time consuming because I can't just make a pattern piece off a body part, I have to invent the whole arching structure and there are two completely different pauldrons to do but they both have to end up with the balanced visual weight. Oy.

Had my first big setback! After spraying a coat of clearacrylic to finish off the knees I made the mistake of letting them dry in the garage overnight. I am not sure if they suffered from cold or humidity but I now have to sand them down and re-paint them all over!

Re-painted the knees and attached straps then clomped around the house to make sure everything works. :)

This week I am working on building pauldrons and the armored skirt. I am hoping i have enough Worbla!

Nothing exciting to show now, I have seven pieces in progress of being built at the moment so I will be able to paint them all at once. I am working on the skirt armor right now which has these big spikes coming off the sides. I am going to have to be careful walking through a crowded convention hall! I considered leaving the spikes off but decided I would regret it later.

Again I think your work is amazing. I had to remove and change my con suit due to safety and concearn
for thebystanders...Great work !!

You could do a sneaky mod, design them like Sabertooth teeth or something and hang them, that way you have something and it's not spikey for anyone else, great paintwork, looking forward to the big 7 piece painted update ;)

Keep it up!

I love how this turning out, are going to look into rubber for your spikes?

Nah I just did Worbla spikes. I'm going to have huge pauldrons and weapons anyway so I think I can keep bystanders at bay!

New update! The pauldrons are coming along nicely. The right one is done and I build a harness to attach it but the left one still needs attaching and painting.

The main things I have left to do are to finish and paint the hip armor, and make some axes. Or one big axe.

The upper half of the armor is all done! Just needs more blood.

Hip armor (tassets) are primed now and ready for paint. All I have left to do (in less than 2 weeks) is paint those massive pieces, add more curls to my wig, and build some axes.

I made a pattern for Scorn which has a nice skull on the design (iconic for Diablo III) but I would really prefer a pair of 1h axes because they would be more fun to pose with. I need to make a final decision.

More hip armor details. I made the upper curve with a single piece of Worbla over layered craft foam because I was running out of Worbla. I really like result, I'll be able to sharpen the details even more with the paint job.

I used Worbla scraps to add stitching details. Just roll scrap strips into a skinny noodle, then twist a little to give it a yarn-like texture. I used a pointy wooden shaping tool to indent the Worbla at the tip of the "thread" a little to make it look sewn-in.
