Dexter's Kill Bag and Tools

I wonder if anyone else is capable of doing the small saw.I'm still waiting on word from Mike about the small saw so far it's been quiet :sleep

Rounding third base on the CNC machine, should be able to cut some prototypes very soon!

Here's some videos of the X and Z.

Those spatulas look amazing Pinder! Great job!!

EDIT: 3 days and no action on this thread, then we post at the same time!

I just got loaned to a different department at work, and I'll be working a weird shift for the next month or two. The downside is I'm still adjusting to the new schedule, the upside is once I do, I'll have more time during business hours to get this thing done!

Maybe there's someone on this board that can get this kill knife done a little quicker?

We still need to go over final designs and specs.GeneralFrosty weren't you gonna take part in this kill knife?

Someone's not going to get one...

Kidding.

I think Frosty was planning on me sending him the CAD files for this, but someone pointed it out to me that I was doing the biggest part of the work for it, so I should do it myself.

If someone else wants to give it a go, then go for it. I just don't think that you guys would want to pay what it will cost if you have to pay a machine shop to make them.

If there's someone else here that has a machine that can cut stainless, I don't know of them. I would like to though!

I've got the machine and control station built up and wired, minus boring out one pulley. Waiting to hear back from the software company, but it looks like it'll be another $400 bucks for the software to generate the toolpaths.

Just a quick question: were my drawings used in the creation of the CAD file? I'm just curious because sending them to you was predicated on the arrangement I had with Jimmy...

I'm just trying to establish provenance. Hell! I didn't even know Jimmy was no longer involved in this. (work has been keeping me from my hobbies lately)

Yeah, the picture you emailed me was used for the outline of the blade and handles. I tweaked a few things in the 3D parts, like my fillets are elliptical and extend much further towards the middle of the handle.

Pitbull, you did have a good point, we do need to get the design finalized.

The overall length is 13.200"

The blade is 1/8" Stainless steel, havn't decided on grade yet. Most likely 304. These won't hold an edge very well.

The handles are 1/4" Aluminum, 6061.

Is there anything that looks out of place with these?

I'll scroll through the thread and see if I can find some comparison photos. I'll add them in here if I find them.

Here's the first part to come off the milling machine. As promised, the kill knife. Sortof...

I don't have the metal yet, this was just to verify the software worked like I expected and the machine is calibrated. It's a low-res roughing pass, in material that is over 2x thicker than the finished product will be, but you get the idea!

It's much bigger than I expected!

EDIT: The rough stuff on the lower half was where I cut through the remaining material with my very dull x-acto knife. That's the part that won't be there.

Yeah, but where's the fun in that? The thrill is in the hunt! ;)

LOL, I would have rather found out then waste 10 hours looking in every episode searching for clues like I did!

I wonder if the info on the net now is WHY they posted the pic like that. They were so careful for almost the whole show and now that?

Well, it is a contest and most people like to see what they might win, so I don't think they had much choice. And if you look at the photo of the second place prizes you'll see Arthur Mitchell's hammer as well; another prop you'se guys have already discovered/uncovered.

BTW, waste 10 hours watching Dexter??? Sacrilege!!! :angry

:lol

Yeah the Trinity pack would be great also!!!

I wasn't actually watching the show, more like observing and looking for details. Studying-- like homework. :lol Definitely NOT wasting.

I've done that more than a few times myself, looking for good shots of the watch, the boots, the pants, the I.D., etc.. Then I'd find myself getting engrossed in whatever episode I was on and have to remind myself why I was watching in the first place...while I was reversing the dvd. :lol

You pick up a lot of stupid things observing the show instead of watching and enjoying it.

Wish we knew what the darn watch was. That's the one thing left that's driving me apepoop.
